Marvel-Comics - Sentinels : Dawn of Mutant Justice

By Mulder, 27 june 2024

Marvel Comics is set to unveil a gripping new narrative in its ever-expanding universe with Sentinels, a five-issue limited series launching this October. Written by Alex Paknadel, acclaimed for his work on Red Goblin, and illustrated by Justin Mason, known for his dynamic art in Spider-Punk, Sentinels promises to explore a thrilling chapter in the aftermath of the X-Men's recent trials.

Set during the turbulent period following the fall of Krakoa, Sentinels introduces a team of extraordinary cyborg soldiers. These Sentinels, however, are not the traditional robotic adversaries of mutants but rather enhanced mutants themselves, fused with cutting-edge nanotechnology. Tasked by the government and led by Lawrence Trask, a mutant plagued by visions of a catastrophic mutant-human conflict, they embark on a mission to apprehend dangerous mutants whose actions threaten the delicate balance between mutantkind and humankind.

The series delves deep into the personal struggles and ethical dilemmas faced by these cyborg heroes. Each member of the team—Sawtooth, Lockstep, Drumfire, and Voivod—bears scars from past superhero conflicts, now further complicated by their cybernetic enhancements. As they confront their targets, such as the formidable Omega Red, they must grapple with questions of identity, morality, and the price of peace.

This book is about flawed human beings doing a dirty job for a dirty cause, explained Alex Paknadel. Justin Mason and I are determined to make you care about each and every one of them. Whatever your expectations are going in, I promise this book will surprise you.

With its blend of intense action sequences and deep character exploration, Sentinels promises to resonate with both longtime Marvel fans and newcomers. The debut issue, Sentinels #1, hits shelves on October 9th, featuring striking cover art by Justin Mason and a variety of variant covers by talented artists including Nick Bradshaw, Jeremy Wilson, and Chris Campana.

Marvel enthusiasts can anticipate a journey into uncharted territory within the Marvel universe, where the line between hero and antagonist blurs against a backdrop of evolving alliances and conflicts.
