For its return in 2022, Paris Games Week promises to be the showcase of French video games in all their forms. Many games designed in France, recently released or expected in the coming months, will be presented to visitors, who will be able to test them with their hands. A symbol of France's influence in the video game industry, the show will also welcome major international publishers who will come to present their titles to French gamers. The French are attached to video games: 7 out of 10 French people play at least occasionally, and 53% of French people play regularly. But France's video game scene is not just about gamers: once again this year, Paris Games Week will showcase the talent of French video game publishers and studios, as well as their creations.
On a surface of 600 m2, the PGW Games Made in France pavilion operated by Capital Games will be the privileged space to celebrate French video game creations, with 33 titles presented to the public, from independent studios from all over France. Among the games presented: Wartales (Shiro Games), A Plague Tale: Requiem (Asobo Studio), but also To Hell With The Ugly (La poule noire), Ragnarock (Wanadev), Sandwalkers (Goblinz Studio) or Danghost (Umeshu Lovers). In addition to being able to test these French-designed games, visitors to the Jeux Made in France area will also be able to take part in various activities: competitions, tournaments and exhibitions will allow them to discover the full range of French video games. While 43% of French people aged 18-24 have already considered a career in video games, the Jeux Made in France pavilion will also feature conferences by professionals and experts on employment and training in video games. In particular, the space will host a class of students from Avenir en Jeu, a free training program for QA Testers.
Paris Games Week is also a showcase for the French video game industry as a whole. The French publisher Ubisoft will be offering the game Mario + The Rabbids: Sparks of Hope, which can be played on 26 Nintendo Switch terminals, including two adapted for people with reduced mobility. Exclusively at PGW, the publisher will also present Just Dance 2023 Edition. Both titles are co-developed by Ubisoft Paris, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2022.
Xbox will also be showcasing games "made in France" in its Xbox Game Pass subscription offer, such as A Plague Tale: Requiem, or Microsoft Flight Simulator from Asobo Studio. On Saturday, November 5, starting at 4:00 p.m., the publisher will also host the "Xbox Wire" talk show, featuring several iconic French video game guests, including Arkane Studios (Deathloop), Asobo Studio (the A Plague Tale series) and other French studios.
EVA (Esports Virtual Arena), a French startup founded in 2018, will showcase the latest innovations in its virtual reality esports technology, allowing players to compete in a 500-square-meter arena using a VR headset and a connected dummy weapon.
A French creation, the educational video game PowerZ will also be on display at PGW. Completely free, PowerZ is a video game available on PC, Mac, tablets and smartphones, allowing children from 6 years old to learn while having fun, in disciplines such as mathematics, vocabulary, but also botany or astronomy. An artificial intelligence adapts to the child's level, to help them progress at their own pace.
A French-style celebration of video games, Paris Games Week promises to be the French capital of gaming for this 2022 edition. It will honor all of France's video game talent, while bringing together international video game players in one place.
