On October 29, 2022 at the Grand Rex, Assassin's Creed Symphonic Adventure, the new symphonic concert created for the 15th anniversary of the game license, will be held. Ubisoft and Overlook Events have joined forces to offer a full orchestra and choir, providing a unique immersive experience. In this new event, the games' narrative will be at the heart of the musical experience. Audiences will be able to follow the story of each title with its unique musical identity, illustrated in sync with the orchestra, choir and soloists. For this world premiere, Overlook Events and Ubisoft will welcome Jesper Kyd, one of the saga's historical composers, who will write an exclusive and original opening piece for this concert, as part of the 15-year celebration.
Assassin's Creed is an open-world stealth action-adventure video game franchise published by Ubisoft and developed primarily by its studio Ubisoft Montreal using the Anvil game engine and its more advanced derivatives. Created by Patrice Désilets, Jade Raymond and Corey May, the Assassin's Creed series depicts a fictionalized millennial struggle between the Assassins, who fight for peace and free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through order and control. The series features historical fiction, science fiction, and fictional characters interwoven with real-world historical events and characters. In the majority of the games, players control a historical Assassin, while also playing as an initiated Assassin or someone caught up in the conflict between the Assassins and the Templars in the present day. Considered a spiritual successor to the Prince of Persia series, Assassin's Creed is based on the novel Alamut by Slovenian writer Vladimir Bartol, which is based on the historical Hashashin sect of the medieval Middle East.
The first eponymous title in the series was released in 2007 and has spawned twelve main games in total, the most recent being Valhalla in 2020. The main games in the Assassin's Creed series take place in an open world and are played in the third person. The gameplay revolves around combat, stealth and exploration, including the use of parkour to navigate the environment. The games feature main and side missions, and some titles (starting with Brotherhood in 2010) also include competitive and cooperative multiplayer game modes.
A new story and sometimes a new time period are introduced in each game, and the game elements evolve from the previous game. The series has three main story arcs. The first five main games follow Desmond Miles, a descendant of several important Assassins in history, who uses a machine called the Animus to relive the memories of his ancestors and find powerful artifacts called "Pieces of Eden," while trying to prevent a catastrophic event that is expected to wipe out humanity at the end of 2012. Beginning with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and continuing through Assassin's Creed Syndicate, insiders and employees of Abstergo (a company used as a front by the modern-day Templars) record genetic memories using Helix software, helping the Templars and Assassins find new pieces of Eden in the modern world. The last three games, Assassin's Creed Origins, Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Assassin's Creed Valhalla, follow Layla Hassan, a former employee of Abstergo, on her own quest to save humanity from another catastrophe.
The main games in the Assassin's Creed franchise have received generally positive reviews for their ambition in terms of visuals, game design, and storytelling, with criticism for the yearly release cycle and frequent bugs, as well as a shift towards prioritizing role-playing mechanics in later titles. The series has received numerous awards and nominations, including several Game of the Year awards. It has been a commercial success, selling over 155 million copies as of October 2020, becoming Ubisoft's best-selling franchise and one of the best-selling video game franchises of all time. While the core titles are produced for major consoles and desktop platforms, multiple spin-off games have been released for consoles, mobile and portable platforms. A series of art books, encyclopedias, comics, novelizations and novels have also been published. In 2016, a live-action film adaptation of Assassin's Creed was released, receiving generally negative reviews from fans and critics.
