We are just under 3 weeks away from San Diego Comic-Con, and there’s been a ton of news this past week, so lets get it started.
The biggest news of the week was that a three year renewal was signed between Comic-Con International and the City of San Diego which will keep SDCC here until 2021.
A few major announcements about panels happened this week:
- No Star Wars: The Last Jedi, or Han Solo panels
- Stargate SG-1 20th anniversary panel announced
- Doctor Who panel (with a farewell from Peter Capaldi)
- Dirk Gently panel
- The Walking Dead, and Fear The Walking Dead panels
- Preacher panel
- Stan Lee & Friends: A Celebrity Tribute to the Comic Legend (with Stan Lee, Felicia Day, Adam Savage, and Stan Lee’s manager Max Anderson)
- Netflix making it’s SDCC debut with panels for Bright (which stars Will Smith), Death Note, The Defenders, Voltron, and Stranger Things.
- Marvel bringing some of it’s show including Inhumans, Legion, the above mentioned The Defenders, and 2 Marvel animated panels including one for Marvel’s Spider-Man (but no Agents of Shield this year)
- Hulu’s Future Man (From Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg)
- Syfy’s The Magicians, 12 Monkeys
- USA Network’s Psych and Colony will each have panels
- NBC’s Timeless (the show was cancelled but thanks to the fans it was brought back)
WB is once again bringing a lot of shows including: The 100, Arrow, The Big Bang Theory, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Gotham, iZOMBIE, Lucifer, The Originals, Riverdale, Supergirl, Supernatural, Teen Titans Go!, and People of Earth.
- Star Trek: Discovery
- HBO’s Game of Thrones and Westworld (which both have offsite events, see below)
- ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’ will get a panel
- With Marvel getting banners in San Diego for both ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ and ‘Black Panther’, that’s a pretty good sign both will have panels this year.
- Fox TV will bring American Dad!, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Simpsons and The Exorcist, The Gifted, Orville.
- Amazon’s The Tick (which will also have offsite events, see below)
And a lot more, the full schedule will start being released this Thursday (July 6th)
In terms of more offsite events there will quite a few announced this week also:
Netflix Experience at the Hilton Gaslamp. Hours/Days are Thursday-Saturday from 11AM-8PM daily, Sunday between 11AM-3PM.
Thursday at 10PM there will be a “Netflix Surprise Screening”, tickets for the event will be available in the Sails Pavilion (times and how to get them will be announced later)
FANDOM Fest at Petco Park (which will include a Voltron area)
Petco Park’s Interactive Zone will also be back, we know of a Voltron themed Hunk food truck for that so far. The food truck will be open Thursday-Saturday from 11AM-6PM, and from 11AM-5PM on Sunday

Funko’s Pop-up shop returns with more exclusives (448 West Market Street in the Marina District (directly across from the Grand Hyatt Manchester) From Thursday-Sunday, July 20-23, 2017 10:00am-3:00pm each day)
Amazon Prime Member Lounge at corner of 1st and J Streets, will have a 20-foot animatronic version of The Tick’s head as part of a 3D billboard.
