"I had felt it from the first reading meeting, but Mr. Sakurai is a true well of science and he knows how to use his knowledge. His knowledge is endless in chemistry, magnetic trains, Japanese chess, etc. The diversity of his knowledge left me speechless. The themes of the storyline emerge quite strikingly. I hope to be true to Mr. Sakurai's spirit in the film and bring it all back to the audience. "Chika Nagaoka

Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet, is a Japanese animated film from 2021. It is the twenty-fourth installment of the Case Closed film series based on the manga series of the same name by Gosho Aoyama, following the 2019 film Detective Conan: The Fist of the Blue Sapphire. This is the first Case Closed film of the Reiwa era.

Detective Conan: The Scarlet Bullet was released in Japan on April 16, 2021. Its release was delayed from the original April 2020 date due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A worldwide release was announced on February 9, 2021 with a multilingual trailer in Japanese, English, Korean, German and Chinese. The revenue of the previous installment: Detective Conan: The Blue Sapphire Fist exceeded 9.3 billion yen at the Japanese box office. This is the best result for a Conan movie in the last seven years. The publication of "Detective Conan" continues to be a success in Weekly Shonen Sunday. In total, over 230 million volumes of the manga have been sold worldwide.

For 27 years, 98 volumes marketed, more than 1,000 episodes, 24 animated films, G?sh? Aoyama and Detective Conan offer a world of their own, following their own rules. Heists, murders and kidnappings in one of the safest countries in the world, brilliant high school detectives who come from all over the Archipelago, high school martial artists who break enemy jaws with amazing jumping kicks, really really bad guys constantly dressed in black, or almost always love stories between childhood friends. Detective Conan cannot be summarized in the story of the misadventures of Shinichi Kud? who became Conan Edogawa, following the forced absorption of a poison - Apotoxin 4869 - which makes him younger and leads him to live with Ran Môri, his childhood friend. Above all, it is an indescribable, surprising and original choral work, which has worked wonderfully for decades. Dozens of endearing and unique characters take turns accompanying the clever Conan Edogawa to solve more complex investigations than the others, and understand crazy mechanisms. Touching stories, bloody stories, funny stories.

Seemingly rather light, Detective Conan proposes nevertheless a real reflection on society, its drifts and its unspoken words. Unlike many classics of the detective genre, G?sh? Aoyama is as much interested in the motive, its deconstruction, and then the ultimate repentance as in the murderous stratagems. By the time of the final resolution phase, which has nothing to envy to the great hours of a Sherlock Holmes or a Hercule Poirot, the criminals often realize that their motive was not good, sufficient or even proven. We enter into the flaws of human psychology, the one that pushes to the irreparable; redemption is always in suspense in this deeply human work. This fine and intelligent manga was thus awarded the prestigious Sh?gakukan prize in the sh?nen category.

Apart from the criminal investigations, other mysteries lurk in every corner of this fi ne universe that is Beika City, a city with a false air of the Shinjuku district in Tokyo that takes its name from the famous London street Baker Street where Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson reside. As answers are given, other questions appear to leave the reader and the spectator in a permanent reflection. What is really the secret plan of the Men in Black? After Shinichi's confessions to Ran, who will be the next character to confess his feelings? Will Ran finally know who Conan really is? How will the story of the elusive Kid, the flamboyant thief, end? Who is really Ai Haibara's family? What secret does the Akai family hide? The movie Detective Conan: the scarlet bullet features Shuichi Akai and his family. From the nostalgia of childhood to the importance of family and friends, this accessible manga deals with subjects that are necessary in an era that is so in need of bonding. It is by the way alone, with friends or with the family that we can go and see its adaptations in films, which are always more spectacular, feature films that put forward the panoply of amazing gadgets of the hero in its ultra dynamic sequences that bring a fresh wind to the whole.

Detective Conan is now part of the collective memory of the Japanese. 5th best-selling manga in the world - 200 million copies between 1992 and 2017 -, Detective Conan is always ranked in the Oricon top 100 year after year. The volume 97 is even 1st of the Oricon top in December 2019 in front of the phenomenon Demon Slayer, when the volume 96 had sold almost 700 000 copies in Japan. It is present in the life of Japanese people, all age groups included. The work has become part of the visual culture of the Archipelago, and is a success in many Asian and European countries. If Detective Conan is a monument in Japan, it is also a successful series in France, the country of the commissioner Jules Maigret, and of the gentleman robber Arsène Lupin. Finally, Detective Conan is more than a simple detective manga. It is especially a big family. Welcome to Beika City.
