Season 4 of The Expanse, its first as a global Amazon Original, begins a new chapter for the series, with the crew of the Rocinante on a mission from the U.N. to explore new worlds beyond the Ring Gate. Humanity has been given access to thousands of Earth-like planets which has created a land rush and furthered tensions between the opposing nations of Earth, Mars and the Belt. Ilus is the first of these planets, one rich with natural resources but also marked by the ruins of a long dead alien civilization. While Earthers, Martians and Belters maneuver to colonize Ilus and its natural resources, these early explorers don’t understand this new world and are unaware of the larger dangers that await them.
Season 4 of The Expanse stars Steven Strait as James Holden, Dominique Tipper as Naomi Nagata, Wes Chatham as Amos Burton, Cas Anvar as Alex Kamal, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Chrisjen Avasarala, Frankie Adamsas Bobbie Draper, Thomas Jane as Josephus Miller, Cara Gee as Camina Drummer, David Strathairn as Kales Ashford, and Burn Gorman as Adolphus Murtry. The Expanse is produced by Alcon Television Group and will launch on Amazon Prime Video on December 13th.
Available since December 13th, season 4 of the Expanse brings us back for more adventures with the Rocinante Crew and a new mission from ONU that will push them to explore past the Ring Gate. Humanity is at risk with the problem of over population affecting all known habitable plants. This raises tension between the United Nations and the Martians and the stakes have never been higher.
We are given 10 new episodes that start today and will be released every week. We have plenty of returning actors such as Burn Gorman, Cas Anvar, Shohreh Asgdashloo, Thomas Jane and Steven Strait along with an expanded cast. Amazon raises the bar to weave an organic transition between luck and the Cold War in the first episodes while exploring brand new words.
Season 4 of the Expanse focuses on exploring brand new planets very similar to earth thanks to the Ring Gate that gives them access to thousands of worlds from across the universe. But what exactly awaits our faithful crew is not entirely known and they could very well not be prepared. This new season is based on James S.A. Corey’s, Cibola Burn the 4th book in this epic saga.
Being based on a book this adaptation will have to adjust certain story lines as we can see from the stills: James Holden (Steven Straight), Naomi Nagata (Dominique Tipper) will be together exploring this is a depart from the book as in the source material she is mostly on the ship and Roci, Holden and the rest were mostly in charge of the exploration.
