Multi-award winning composer Daniel Pemberton scores Warner Bros. highly-anticipated film Ocean’s 8. The heist comedy, directed by Gary Ross and written by Ross and Olivia Milch, is a spin-off of Steven Soderbergh’'s Ocean’s trilogy. The film stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Anne Hathaway, Mindy Kaling, Sarah Paulson, Awkwafina, Rihanna, and Helena Bonham Carter. Ocean’s 8 marks Pemberton’s (Steve Jobs, All the Money in the World) first collaboration with Ross (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville). For the film, Pemberton created a fun, high energy score that features Big Band, electronica, 60s bachelor pad, jazz, swing and more. The film opens June 8, 2018 with soundtrack available on Watertower Records.

Ocean’s 8 follows a group of women, led by the estranged sister of Danny Ocean, Debbie Ocean (Bullock), who plan on robbing the Met Gala in New York City. Debbie Ocean has been devising the biggest heist of her life with her partner-in-crime Lou Miller (Blanchett). Together, they recruit a crew of specialists, including jeweler Amita (Kaling), street con Constance (Awkwafina), suburban mom Tammy (Paulson), hacker Nine Ball (Rihanna), and fashion designer Rose (Carter). Their target -- a necklace that's worth more than $150 million.

In the last five years, the critically-acclaimed composer was named “Discovery of The Year” at the World Soundtrack Awards; collaborated with iconic filmmakers and received Golden Globe and BAFTA nominations. Pemberton’s original musical voice cannot be pigeon-hold to any particular genre with including hybrid choral, orchestral, electronic, opera, to rock. Daniel Pemberton’s credits include Steve Jobs (2015), The Man from U.N.C.L.E. (2015), King Arthur: Legend of the Sword (2017), Stephen Gaghan’s GOLD (2016) Ridley Scott’s All the Money in the World (2017), and Aaron Sorkin’s Molly Game (2017). All the Money In The World marked the third time Pemberton had collaborated with director Ridley Scott. In terms of Molly’s Game, Aaron Sorkin would always mention Pemberton’s score on panels for Steve Jobs. Pemberton’s mix of opera and electronics for Danny Boyle’s Steve Jobs (starring Michael Fassbender and Kate Winslet) awarded him a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Score; the next year Pemberton would receive a Golden Globe nomination for “Best Song” for the Rock/Punk song “Gold” for the film Gold, he co-wrote with Dangermouse and Iggy Pop.

Pemberton scored Ridley Scott’s 2013 crime-thriller film The Counselor starring Brad Pitt, Javier Bardem, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, and Michael Fassbender, as well as Scott’s TV project The Vatican. After self-releasing an avant-garde electronic album at the age of 16 and garnering attention from Massive Attack’s label, Pemberton began composing for British television while still in high school. Pemberton’s soundtrack credits include films such as The Awakening and In Fear, and he has scored video games including Little Big Planet 1 & 2, and the second highest selling Xbox game of all time: Kinect Adventures.
