SDCC 2026 : DC Unveils Booth Lineup, Celebrating the Silver Age While Building Toward DC’s 100th Anniversary
Wednesday 8 July, 9:05 AM PT
As San Diego Comic-Con 2026 approaches, DC has unveiled one of its most ambitious convention programs in years, transforming Booth #4544 into a celebration of the publisher's remarkable publishing legacy while simultaneously laying the groundwork for its centennial celebrations. Continuing the decade-by-decade initiative launched last year, the company now shifts its spotlight to the transformative 1950s, a period that redefined superhero comics and gave birth to what fans now recognize as the Silver Age. Rather than relying solely on nostalgia, DC is combining historical tributes, exclusive publishing announcements, immersive fan experiences, creator appearances, major animation previews, gaming showcases and exclusive collectibles into a comprehensive convention destination that reflects how the publisher has evolved across comics, television, film, gaming and consumer products.
The choice of the 1950s is far from symbolic. Few decades reshaped comic book history more profoundly. It was during this era that Barry Allen debuted in Showcase #4, effectively launching the Silver Age of Comics. Readers also witnessed the arrival of Supergirl, the introduction of Superman's Fortress of Solitude, and the reinvention of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern. Beyond superheroes, DC significantly diversified its catalogue with science fiction, westerns, romance, mystery, suspense and humor, illustrating an editorial willingness to experiment that continues to influence modern publishing. The 2026 booth embraces this spirit through a fully themed Daily Planet newsstand inspired by the decade, where visitors will receive free copies of a MAD Magazine #1 facsimile complete with vintage advertisements restored from DC's archives and a specially designed back cover intended for creator signatures throughout the convention. It is a clever tribute to the legendary satire magazine launched under Harvey Kurtzman, whose irreverent influence stretched far beyond comics and helped redefine American pop culture satire for generations.

Visitors will quickly discover that Booth #4544 is designed less as a traditional exhibitor space than as a continuously evolving experience. Throughout the five-day convention, fans will encounter exclusive merchandise, limited-edition comics, live demonstrations, gaming stations, publisher announcements, creator signings and interactive attractions that celebrate virtually every corner of the DC Universe. One of the booth's emotional highlights will undoubtedly be the return of Guide Dogs of America | Tender Loving Canines, whose collaboration with DC reaches a new milestone this year as the complete litter of DC-themed future service dogs—Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Kara Zor-El, Krypto and Lobo—makes its first collective appearance at Comic-Con. Beyond the obvious photo opportunities, attendees will be able to learn how these dogs are trained to become life-changing service companions, reinforcing DC's growing commitment to community engagement beyond entertainment. Sunday's signing with artist Chrissie Zullo around Krypto: Home Sweet Krypto further strengthens this heartfelt initiative.
Collectors, meanwhile, will find one of the convention's richest selections of exclusive publishing material. DC is releasing numerous foil convention variants, including Absolute Catwoman #1, Absolute Green Arrow #1, Absolute Batman #1, Absolute Superman #1, Absolute Wonder Woman #1, Batman #1, Bleeding Hearts #1, Lobo #1, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #1, Batman: The Dark Knight Returns #1 and DC x Sonic the Hedgehog: Metal Legion #1. Exclusive collected editions will also debut during SDCC, including Batman Vol. 1: Daylight, Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1: The Last Amazon, Absolute Batman Vol. 1: The Zoo, Absolute Superman Vol. 1: The Last Dust of Krypton and DC K.O.: A DC Comics Event. These convention editions continue DC's strategy of offering highly collectible releases while simultaneously showcasing the strength of its current publishing line, particularly the enormously successful Absolute Universe initiative.

The DC Shop likewise embraces the Silver Age theme through apparel and collectibles celebrating characters and concepts introduced during the 1950s. Fans can expect premium hoodies, classic Johnny DC, Bite-Mite and Spy vs. Spy apparel alongside merchandise inspired by the upcoming Lanterns television series, the forthcoming Clayface feature film, and the rapidly expanding Absolute Universe. New apparel dedicated to Absolute Green Arrow, Absolute Catwoman and Absolute Batman will join returning favorites featuring Nightwing, Batman: The Animated Series and Lobo. Importantly, many of these products will later become available online, allowing fans unable to attend San Diego Comic-Con to participate in the anniversary celebration.
Gaming also occupies a prominent place inside the booth with playable stations dedicated to LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. Developed by TT Games and published by Warner Bros. Games, the action-adventure title allows players to experience Bruce Wayne's evolution from orphaned heir to Gotham City's legendary protector. Convention attendees who play the game will receive exclusive giveaways while supplies last, while Nintendo Switch 2 owners receive additional incentive with the announcement that the platform's version launches on September 18 alongside the new Mayhem Collection downloadable content featuring The Joker and Harley Quinn. The booth therefore becomes an extension of Warner Bros.' broader cross-media strategy linking comics, games and future releases.

Several corporate partnerships further expand the convention experience. Upper Deck returns with new trading card collections available inside the DC Shop, while Shoe Palace collaborates with DC and Upper Deck on an exclusive Absolute Batman #1 bundle featuring a foil comic, individually numbered trading card and premium T-shirt showcasing artwork by Nick Dragotta. Meanwhile, eBay partners with DC for exclusive connecting covers across Absolute Batman #22 and Absolute Catwoman #2, illustrated by legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz, whose scheduled signing at the booth will undoubtedly become one of the convention's most sought-after autograph sessions. Another notable collaboration arrives through the U.S. Mint, which continues its comic art coin and medal initiative with a convention-exclusive reprint of The Brave and the Bold #28, featuring new artwork by Dan Jurgens and forming the first half of a connecting cover to be completed later this year.
The Superman brand receives equally significant attention thanks to Warner Bros. Studio Tour Hollywood, whose recently launched Superman Experience expands onto the convention floor. Visitors will pose before a Fortress of Solitude-inspired backdrop alongside Superman and Krypto while receiving the exclusive comic Superman Experience #1, written by Josh Trujillo, illustrated by Bruno Abdias and featuring a cover by Bernard Chang. This convention-exclusive comic further reinforces DC's strategy of connecting real-world attractions with exclusive publishing experiences unavailable outside SDCC.

Community engagement remains another central pillar of DC's presence. The official DC Discord celebrates its first anniversary through poster giveaways, exclusive pins and collectible Jon Kent press badges distributed to verified community members. Cosplayers are also invited to participate in a Silver Age-themed group photo session celebrating the 1950s aesthetic that serves as the convention's visual identity. Beyond the convention center itself, DC is expanding throughout San Diego with "Unlock DC," an interactive web-based experience encouraging fans to explore citywide activations, scan QR checkpoints, earn digital rewards and eventually locate the mobile DC Reward Truck offering exclusive convention merchandise available only to registered participants. This off-site initiative reflects how modern Comic-Con experiences increasingly extend beyond the exhibit hall into the surrounding city, turning San Diego itself into part of the storytelling experience.
Programming throughout SDCC further demonstrates the breadth of DC's current ambitions. Thursday begins with the always highly anticipated Jim Lee and Friends, where Jim Lee, DC's President, Publisher and Chief Creative Officer, once again promises surprise guests and announcements. Animation fans will then enjoy an advance screening of Batman: Caped Crusader Season Two accompanied by creative talent from Warner Bros. Animation, DC Studios, Bad Robot Productions and 6th & Idaho ahead of the series' Prime Video premiere. Friday shifts focus toward publishing with dedicated Gotham City and Next Level panels featuring creators including G. Willow Wilson, Matt Fraction, Tom Taylor, Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson, Kyle Higgins and Gerry Duggan, offering first looks at upcoming publishing initiatives and major announcements. Saturday continues with presentations devoted to Batman: Knightfall, My Adventures with Superman Season 3, Metropolis and Beyond, and the hugely successful Absolute Universe line, where creators such as Scott Snyder, Nick Dragotta, Jeff Lemire, Che Grayson, Pornsak Pichetshote, Rafael Albuquerque, Tom King, Mark Waid, Jeremy Adams, Nicole Maines and many others will discuss the future of DC's publishing universe.

Equally important are the extensive signing opportunities available throughout the convention. Visitors will be able to meet some of the industry's most influential creators, including Jim Lee, Scott Snyder, Nick Dragotta, Mark Waid, G. Willow Wilson, Matt Fraction, Joshua Williamson, Tom Taylor, Rafael Grampá, Kyle Higgins, Nicole Maines, Belén Ortega, Javi Fernández and many more. Some sessions will require wristbands, underscoring the extraordinary demand surrounding DC's current creative lineup. Together, these signings reinforce one of Comic-Con's defining strengths: the opportunity for readers to connect directly with the artists and writers shaping the future of one of popular culture's most enduring fictional universes.
Rather than simply commemorating its past, DC's entire SDCC 2026 strategy demonstrates remarkable confidence in its future. By celebrating the decade that reinvented superhero comics while simultaneously showcasing its modern publishing initiatives, multimedia franchises, community programs and creator-driven storytelling, the publisher successfully bridges nearly a century of history. As the road to DC Comics' 100th anniversary accelerates, San Diego Comic-Con 2026 appears set to become not only a celebration of the Silver Age but also a declaration that the next century of DC storytelling is already well underway.
