Paris Manga by TGS 2026 : French Dubbing Stars Take the Stage

Paris Manga by TGS 2026 : Seven French Dubbing Voices in the Spotlight

Saturday 3 October, 11:30 AM PT Villepinte, Parc des Expositions Paris Nord Villepinte, Hall 7 2026-10-03 → 2026-10-04

The voices behind some of French audiences’ most familiar screen characters shared the spotlight at the 40th Paris Manga by TGS, held on October 3–4, 2026, at Paris Nord Villepinte. The dubbing conference brought together Sylvain Caruso, Lilly Caruso, David Krüger, Aurélien Ringelheim, Alexandre Gillet, Emmanuel Curtil and Nathalie Homs. Their combined careers connected fantasy cinema, Japanese animation, television comedy and video games, giving the gathering a reach well beyond any single franchise.

The event photographs capture the actors seated in armchairs with microphones in hand. Nathalie Homs, also present on the panel, appears speaking and gesturing in the additional photograph. The gathering put faces to voices usually experienced through somebody else’s image.

Sylvain Caruso and Lilly Caruso connect generations of dubbing

Sylvain Caruso links two strikingly different fictional worlds through his French performances as Donald Duck and Gollum. His work on Gollum, originally performed by Andy Serkis, connects him to The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. It also created a natural connection with fellow panellist Alexandre Gillet, the French voice of Elijah Wood as Frodo Baggins.

For Lilly Caruso, the connection was also a family story. In a December 2022 interview with La Revue de la Toile, she explained that her father, Sylvain Caruso, took her to recording sessions as a child and taught her articulation exercises that she continued to practise. She also recalled an early experience recording children’s background voices for Mickey’s Twice Upon a Christmas with friends.

Her own credits establish a distinct identity, including Enid Sinclair, played by Emma Myers, in Wednesday, and regular French dubbing work for Chloë Grace Moretz. Japanese animation is another part of that portfolio: Crunchyroll’s French cast announcement for A Couple of Cuckoos season two lists her as Sachi Umino.

David Krüger brings Hollywood and Halo into the conversation

David Krüger offered another bridge between media. His established French-language associations include Dwayne Johnson, Chris Pratt, Michael Shannon and Ed Helms. Alongside those film credits sits Master Chief, also known as John-117, in Halo. The Angers Geekfest 2026 press dossier traces that casting to Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001 and notes that the association extended to the franchise’s television adaptation.

Aurélien Ringelheim and the Pokémon audition that changed course

Aurélien Ringelheim is closely associated with Ash Ketchum, known to French viewers as Sacha, in Pokémon. In an interview published by Manga News in 2019, he recalled that recording began in summer 1999. His account contains an unexpected casting twist: after three auditions, he was initially told that he had not been selected. Two weeks later, he received another call because the client wanted him for the part.

The same interview supplies a revealing family anecdote. Aurélien Ringelheim remembered one of his children coming home upset after classmates refused to believe that their father voiced Sacha. Beyond its humour, the story captures a particular feature of dubbing: a character can be instantly recognisable while the actor remains unfamiliar. Seen against that background, a convention appearance offers more than an autograph opportunity; it makes the person behind an apparently self-contained animated hero visible.

Alexandre Gillet connects fantasy cinema and video games

For Alexandre Gillet, the connections span Frodo Baggins, Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, and Sonic in games and animation. His more recent work includes Gustave in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.  In an April 2026 interview with Eklecty-City, Alexandre Gillet discussed finding the authority of Chris Evans through the original performance, including the actor’s gaze and body language. He also recalled buying the extended editions of The Lord of the Rings and enjoying them across three evenings. The two details offer complementary perspectives: the professional studies a performance closely, while the viewer can still rediscover the finished films with pleasure.

Emmanuel Curtil shows how acting and singing meet

Emmanuel Curtil brought another widely recognisable collection of associations, from Jim Carrey to Chandler Bing in Friends and Tom Scavo in Desperate Housewives. His interview with Sonacom also highlights singing work in The Lion King, Anastasia and The Mask. This combination expands the picture of dubbing beyond dialogue alone: the same career can involve comic timing, dramatic delivery and musical performance, sometimes within the same production.

Speaking to Sonacom, Emmanuel Curtil traced his introduction to the recording environment to post-synchronising his own film and television roles when sound needed replacing. He had started acting classes at nine, before his voice became familiar through international productions. Placed alongside the childhood studio memories of Lilly Caruso and the audition story of Aurélien Ringelheim, that experience reveals several different routes into the profession. The Paris Manga lineup brought those contrasting careers together through a shared craft: acting for an audience listening in French.

Nathalie Homs adds animation and television narration

Nathalie Homs widened the panel’s range with a career encompassing character voices and television narration. Her credits include Queen Elinor in Brave and Manu in Titeuf, while viewers of Le Meilleur Pâtissier know her as the programme’s voice. These contrasting roles connect animated storytelling with the familiar sound of French entertainment television.

Her own biography adds another perspective on entering the profession: after working as an actress and singer, Nathalie Homs began in the voice sector as an artistic director before recording roles herself. She also describes Une Voix en Cuisine as a meeting of her interests in cooking and dubbing. That background brings both performance and creative direction into the picture of the careers represented on the Paris Manga stage.
