ComplexCon 2026 : Street Fighter : Cast and a great activation
ComplexCon 2026 : Street Fighter : Cast, Arcade Battles and Fragment Style Take Over the convention
Sunday 4 October, 12:00 AM PT California, Los Angeles, Los Angeles Convention Center, 2026-10-03
Street Fighter brought its screen fighters back to the arcade at ComplexCon 2026, combining a substantial cast appearance with playable games, a life-sized Bonus Stage car and a Fragment merchandise collaboration. Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center on October 3–4, the event provided a meeting point for the film’s actors, Capcom’s gaming audience and the streetwear community shortly before the October theatrical launch.
On Saturday, October 3, Noah Centineo, Andrew Koji, Callina Liang, Joe Roman Reigns Anoa’i, David Dastmalchian, Rayna Vallandingham, Andrew Schulz and Eric André attended the Street Fighter booth alongside director Kitao Sakurai. Their presence connected the forthcoming adaptation to an activation built around familiar things visitors could play, photograph and wear. The appearance came 13 days before the film’s US opening. ComplexCon was celebrating its tenth anniversary, with the exhibition at the Los Angeles Convention Center and headline concerts at Crypto.com Arena.

Fragment collaboration gives the World Warriors a streetwear identity
Fragment founder Hiroshi Fujiwara developed an exclusive, movie-inspired Street Fighter collection for the convention. Announced ahead of the event, the collaboration included T-shirts, hoodies, totes and other merchandise drawing on characters from the new film. Promotional imagery paired character graphics with prominent Fragment branding.
The collection was announced for first-come, first-served purchase at ComplexCon, followed by a release through Complex Shop. That planned second stage extended the collaboration beyond visitors able to attend in Los Angeles. It also gave the campaign a life outside the booth: clothing and accessories could carry the film’s imagery into everyday use after the convention closed.
The choice of designer had particular relevance to the setting. Hiroshi Fujiwara was also one of ComplexCon 2026’s artistic directors, so the collaboration connected Street Fighter to someone helping shape the wider event. The characters were being interpreted within the convention’s own creative context, giving the merchandise a direct relationship to its launch venue.

Street Fighter II arcade cabinets and the Bonus Stage car
Visitors could challenge one another on retro Street Fighter II arcade cabinets and pose beside a life-sized recreation of the Bonus Stage car. These choices made the game itself central to the experience. A cabinet requires participation, while the car turns a familiar screen image into a physical object that can be recognized even before anyone explains its connection to the franchise.
The car also supplied one of the weekend’s more playful details. Big Gold Belt Media’s event report describes cast members joking around and taking swings at it, while fans had opportunities to play against members of the ensemble.
There was a separate craft story behind the vehicle. The General commissioned Hollywood automotive specialist Dennis McCarthy and Vehicle Effects to bring the concept into the real world. The insurer’s announcement describes a pixelated recreation; coverage of the build also identifies custom pixel upholstery, new leather seats and upgraded speakers. The result carried the visual joke beyond its exterior, treating the car as a designed vehicle as well as a recognizable prop.
This works as a campaign idea because the object already has a role in players’ memories. The car is associated with the game’s destructive bonus challenge, yet here it becomes something to restore, photograph and admire. The activation builds its humor around that reversal. It lets an established detail from the games do some of the storytelling before audiences encounter the new film.

Why the arcade history fits the film’s 1993 setting
The franchise’s chronology adds another connection. Capcom dates the original Street Fighter arcade game to 1987 and the breakthrough Street Fighter II to 1991. The series therefore began before the early-1990s boom emphasized in the promotional material. Bringing Street Fighter II cabinets to ComplexCon specifically recalled the installment that helped establish the franchise’s broad popularity.
The new film takes place in 1993. In the official synopsis, estranged fighters Ryu, played by Andrew Koji, and Ken Masters, played by Noah Centineo, return to combat when Chun-Li, played by Callina Liang, recruits them for the World Warrior Tournament. A deadly conspiracy then forces them to confront one another and their pasts.
The proximity between the game’s 1991 breakthrough and the film’s 1993 setting gives the booth’s retro presentation additional resonance. The arcade machines invited visitors into approximately the same cultural moment that the movie uses as its backdrop—a connection suggested by the presentation, rather than a stated explanation from the filmmakers.

Street Fighter release dates and the wider ensemble
Directed by Kitao Sakurai, Street Fighter opens in France on October 14, 2026, and in the United States on October 16. Paramount Pictures France also lists Cody Rhodes, Vidyut Jammwal, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Jason Momoa among the ensemble. Their inclusion in the film should be distinguished from the specific group documented at the October 3 booth appearance.
ComplexCon’s contribution to the campaign was tangible: visitors could revisit the game, encounter the cast and see its imagery reinterpreted through fashion and automotive design. The appearance showed a campaign built around recognizable details from Street Fighter’s existing culture and opportunities to take part in it.
