Convention - VivaTech 2026: EveryHuman Brings AI-Powered Algorithmic Perfumery to the Champs-Élysées

On June 14, 2026, as VivaTech celebrated its tenth anniversary by extending beyond the halls of Paris Expo Porte de Versailles and transforming a section of the iconic Champs-Élysées into a giant open-air innovation showcase, one of the most surprising and crowd-pleasing experiences could be found in the Santé & Bien-être section under the letter V of the giant VIVATECH installation: EveryHuman and its remarkable Algorithmic Perfumery platform. Surrounded by robotics demonstrations, augmented reality devices, healthcare innovations, and AI-powered technologies, the Dutch company invited visitors to discover a vision of artificial intelligence that felt refreshingly personal. Rather than generating images, videos, or text, the system generated something far more intimate: a fragrance designed specifically for each participant. Visitors could scan a QR code, engage with an AI-driven experience, create a fragrance based on their own story, and then witness its production in real time before leaving with their very own personalized perfume.

The attraction immediately stood out thanks to the imposing fragrance-making machine occupying the center of the installation. Towering racks filled with transparent cylinders containing dozens of aromatic ingredients created an aesthetic somewhere between a scientific laboratory, a futuristic art installation, and a perfume workshop. Watching the machine operate became a spectacle in itself. Visitors first completed a digital questionnaire, describing preferences, memories, moods, and sensory inclinations. Once the process was complete and the participation fee of 15 euros paid, the system translated those answers into a unique olfactory formula. Moments later, the machine began dispensing carefully calculated drops from numerous reservoirs, blending them with robotic precision into a personalized fragrance that participants could immediately take home in a small vial. The experience transformed what is traditionally an invisible creative process into a live performance, allowing people to witness every stage of perfume creation.

Behind this impressive demonstration is a much broader vision developed by Frederik Duerinck and Anahita Mekanik, the founders of EveryHuman. Their project emerged from a simple yet provocative question: why should the fragrances available to billions of people be determined by a relatively small number of professional perfumers and commercial trends? Instead of positioning artificial intelligence as a replacement for human creativity, EveryHuman has spent years developing technology that places the individual at the center of the creative process. Through Algorithmic Perfumery, AI acts as a collaborator rather than a creator, helping users discover scent combinations that reflect their own personalities, emotions, and preferences. This philosophy aligns perfectly with one of the dominant themes of VivaTech 2026: human-centered innovation that uses technology to amplify human potential rather than replace it.

The technology itself is the result of extensive research conducted through ScenTronix, the Netherlands-based startup responsible for developing the hardware and software ecosystem powering the platform. Since 2018, the multidisciplinary team has refined a patent-pending system capable of rapidly blending hundreds of fragrance ingredients while collecting data on how individuals perceive scent combinations. The massive machine displayed on the Champs-Élysées illustrated this concept beautifully. Rows of transparent containers filled with ingredients of varying colors—from nearly transparent liquids to deep amber concentrates—fed into a network of robotic dispensers capable of producing a bespoke fragrance within minutes. The result was a tangible demonstration of how machine learning, sensory science, and robotics can work together to create something deeply personal rather than purely functional.

What makes EveryHuman particularly fascinating is its artistic heritage. Long before becoming a commercial platform, Algorithmic Perfumery™ existed as an interactive installation presented at design festivals, technology exhibitions, and cultural events around the world. Visitors were encouraged to question the relationship between humans and intelligent machines while actively participating in the creative process. That artistic DNA remains visible today. Unlike many AI companies focused on efficiency, automation, or productivity gains, EveryHuman encourages exploration, experimentation, and self-expression. The experience at VivaTech felt less like using a technological product and more like participating in a collaborative artistic performance where the participant becomes both creator and audience.

Its inclusion within VivaTech’s Santé & Bien-être section was particularly appropriate. The 2026 edition of the Champs-Élysées event highlighted technologies designed to improve quality of life, ranging from advanced mobility solutions and healthcare innovations to immersive sensory experiences. Within that context, EveryHuman demonstrated that well-being is not only about physical health or medical breakthroughs but also about identity, emotion, and personal expression. Fragrance has always been linked to memory, mood, and individuality, and the company’s platform leverages artificial intelligence to deepen those connections rather than standardize them.

The crowds gathering around the installation throughout the day reflected the growing public fascination with AI applications that move beyond screens and digital content. While many visitors arrived expecting to see robots, autonomous vehicles, or futuristic gadgets, they often found themselves captivated by the idea of creating something as uniquely personal as a scent. Watching people compare their newly generated fragrances became part of the experience itself. No two bottles were exactly alike, reinforcing EveryHuman’s core message that technology can celebrate individuality rather than erase it.

As VivaTech continues to position itself as one of Europe’s most influential technology events, EveryHuman offered one of the clearest examples of how artificial intelligence can be used to create meaningful and memorable human experiences. The company’s presence on the Champs-Élysées demonstrated that the future of AI may not be defined solely by automation or generative content, but also by technologies that help people explore their own creativity. By combining artificial intelligence, robotics, sensory science, and artistic experimentation, Frederik Duerinck, Anahita Mekanik, and the EveryHuman team delivered one of the most original demonstrations of VivaTech 2026, proving that even in an era dominated by algorithms, some of the most compelling innovations remain deeply human.
