Premiere - Mean Girls :  a successful evening at Le Grand Rex cinema

Our media team had the privilege of attending the premiere of the long-awaited musical Mean Girls at Le Grand Rex cinema in Paris this evening. Despite the absence of the two directors and the cast, the evening went off flawlessly, as is always the case with Paramount Pictures France premieres. The surprise of the evening was the presence on stage of the talented singer Alizée, who performed two emblematic songs live, Moi... Lolita and L'Alizée. She also shared her memories of the original film, released 20 years ago, leaving an indelible imprint on her memory.

In an electrifying atmosphere at the Grand Rex, fans flocked to a memorable evening dedicated to the latest hit film, Mean GirlsThe iconic cinema was packed to capacity, vibrating with the excitement of moviegoers and pop culture fans alike. The event was marked by the dazzling presence of the queens of Drag'Race France, who captivated the audience in legendary outfits worthy of the greatest fashion scenes. The evening was kicked off by Christophe Beaugrand, who created a festive atmosphere right from the start. The surprise of the evening came from the talented Alizée, who took to the stage to perform a live rendition of her iconic hits, L'Alizé and Moi Lolita, a perfect nod to the film's title. The crowd was enchanted by the unexpected performance of the singer with five million albums sold.

Among the celebrities in attendance were comedian Gil Alma, director Ruben Alves, singers Anggun, Soko and Philippine, prima ballerina Paul Marque and choreographer Medhi Kerkouche. Miss France Flora Coquerel and Vaïmalama Chavez also joined the party, swaying to the evening's lively tunes. The event also brought together several generations of Star Académiciens, creating an atmosphere of nostalgic celebration. Familiar faces such as Carine and Patrice from season 1, Chris and Lola from the class of 2022, and Marie-Maud, Margot and Louis from the current season added a touch of glamour to the evening.

The musical Mean Girls, directed by Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne, is scheduled to open in theaters on January 10, 2024 in France and January 12, 2024 in the United States. This film adaptation of the famous Broadway musical promises to revive the success of the 2004 cult film. With an eclectic cast, including Angourie Rice, Auliʻi Cravalho, and the brilliant Renée Rapp as Regina George, the film promises a unique cinematic experience.

The story follows Cady Heron, played by Angourie Rice, a new student plunged into the ruthless social hierarchy of high school. Accompanied by Regina George, played by Renée Rapp, the Plastics Queen, and her sidekicks Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika Vandanapu), the plot offers a captivating mix of comedy, drama and social satire.

The choice of Renée Rapp to play Regina George is no mean feat. This young American actress and singer, already distinguished in the world of theater and music, won the prestigious Jimmy Award in 2018 for her performance in her high school production of Big Fish. Her brilliant Broadway performance in the iconic role of Regina George further cemented her reputation as a rising star. Away from the stage, Renée Rapp has also conquered the music world with the release of her EP "Everything to Everyone" in 2022, followed by her full-length album "Snow Angel" in 2023.

Mean Girls benefits from the involvement of Tina Fey as writer and producer, as well as the return of Jeff Richmond and Nell Benjamin to rework the songs from the musical. Bill Kirstein's cinematography and the remarkable cast, which also includes Jenna Fischer and Busy Philipps, generate a great deal of enthusiasm for the project.

As the release date approaches, anticipation for Mean Girls reaches fever pitch, buoyed by the excitement of Plastic"'s new generation, led by the dazzling Renée Rapp. The film promises to be a memorable addition to the franchise, reminding fans why Mean Girls became a cult comedy. Synopsis : 
Tina Fey gives a new twist to the 2000s cult comedy Means girl. New student Cady Heron finds herself rubbing shoulders with the elite of the social food chain, the popular girls known as "The Plastics", led by their queen Regina George and her underlings Gretchen and Karen. But when Cady gets a crush on Aaron, she doesn't immediately realize that she's made a big mistake, and her new bestie quickly turns into an enemy. Cady decides to overturn the established order with the help of her loser friends, Janis and Damian. Staying true to yourself while making your way through the ruthless high school jungle: that's quite a program, and you've got 2 hours.
