Premiere - The Flash: a memorable atmosphere tonight at the Grand Rex for the film premiere

By Sabine, Paris, Le Grand Rex, 09 june 2023

Our media were invited to the prestigious Le Grand Rex cinema in Paris this evening to attend the official premiere of Andy Muschietti's The Flash. Our media was lucky enough to discover the film for the first time at the Cinemacon convention in Las Vegas at the end of April. The atmosphere at the Grand Rex was just as memorable, with lots of applause during the movie.  Before the screening, everyone was able to have their picture taken in front of a life-size statue of Flash, imitating the famous position of the runner. A pixie light for Smartphone was given to each spectator. We were thus able to create a moment of light before the screening. Security guards ensured that the smartphones remained in the sealed pockets. The famous TikToker Terry hosted the evening, recommending not to spoil the film, highlighting the work of technicians, particularly the French ones, on special effects, asking questions about the DC universe. The public fan of this universe naturally knew the answers. Then Olivier Snanoudj, Senior Vice President of Cinema Distribution at Warner, came to recall the centenary of Warner Bros and announce the presence at this preview of Michael Keaton. The public then exploded with joy. Michael Keaton didn't think he would wear the Batman suit again. He had a lot of fun working on this film, with a great team. He is an "aficionado" of superhero movies. He is currently filming in London for the sequel to Beetlejuice, directed by Tim Burton. This director is for Keaton a true artist with his universe. He also mentioned the exhibition that is currently taking place in Paris, a city he loves. In conclusion, he uttered the famous line: "if you want to get nuts, let's get nuts!" ". The film was appreciated. It was a nice evening. We advise you to stay until the end of the film to discover a scene with one of the pillars of the Justice League.

The Flash is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. Produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Studios, Double Dream, and the Disco Factory, and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, it is destined to be the 13th installment of the DC Extended Universe (DCEU). The film is directed by Andy Muschietti from a screenplay by Christina Hodson and stars Ezra Miller as Barry Allen / The Flash alongside Sasha Calle, Michael Shannon, Ron Livingston, Maribel Verdú, Kiersey Clemons, Antje Traue and Michael Keaton. In the film, Barry travels back in time to prevent his mother's murder, with unexpected consequences.

Development of a film featuring The Flash began in the late 1980s, with multiple writers and directors attached to the project until 2014. The film was then redeveloped as part of the DCEU, with Miller as the title character. Several directors were attached to the film over the next few years, with Seth Grahame-Smith, Rick Famuyiwa, and the duo John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein all leaving the project due to creative differences. Muschietti and Hodson joined the film in July 2019, and pre-production began in January 2020. The film is influenced by the Flashpoint comic book storyline, featuring multiple DC Comics characters, including Ben Affleck and Keaton reprising their respective versions of Batman. Filming took place from April to October 2021 at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden, as well as on location throughout the UK.

Filming began on April 19, 2021 at Warner Bros. Studios, Leavesden, England, under the working title Baby Shower.Henry Braham served as director of photography having previously worked on DC's The Suicide Squad (2021). In early May, filming took place at Burghley House in Stamford, Lincolnshire, where Wayne Manor was located. In mid-June, Miller, Clemons, Keaton and Calle shot scenes at St. Paul's Cathedral in London, the surrounding locations being designed to represent Central City. Later in the month, filming was also scheduled to take place in Edinburgh and Glasgow, where scenes with Affleck and Keaton were dubbed for Gotham City. At the end of July, filming continued in Glasgow, in Ingram Street, George Square, John Street and Cochrane Street, and involved several vehicles, while the Batmobile shoot took place in George Square. On July 29, filming was interrupted after a cameraman on a motorcycle filming behind the Batmobile on Renfield Street collided with it near West George Street. The cameraman was injured, but not "seriously". In August, Braham said the film was "technically complex" despite not being based on reality, and described the concept of featuring the different generations of comics as fantastic. In early September, Luke Brandon Field announced that he had joined the cast. Filming ended on October 18, 2021.

The Flash is scheduled for release in the U.S. on June 16, 2023, after multiple delays caused by director changes, the COVID-19 pandemic and post-production hiccups.
