Spectacles - Michael Gregorio : The odyssey of the voice, a memorable and perfectly mastered show

By Mulder, Paris, Le Casino de Paris, 03 to 30 october 2021

If there is one virtuoso artist that we adore for his immense talent, it is the gifted Michael Gregorio. Comedian, singer and impersonator, he remains a true phenomenon on stage, overflowing with energy and who takes a certain pleasure not only to entertain his audience but to constantly surpass himself to give perfect and impressive voice and imitations. While some comedians tend to line up more or less successful sketches on stage, he delivers at each of his shows a real concert with an innate nostalgic power. Whether he is imitating international or French singers, his perfect English and French leaves us speechless. His last show J'ai 10 ans ! had already shown that he knew how to renew himself and that he continues to be not only attentive to current trends but also to share with the audience the same true love for music, the one he discovered as a child in a car (sketch filled with nostalgia) or in front of his television.

Michaël Gregorio is making his comeback with a new show at the Casino de Paris from October 28 to December 4, 2021 and then on tour throughout France. His new show l'odyssée de la voix allows him to mix tributes to personalities from music and cinema. In this one which begins by paying tribute through a video to the classic of Stanley Kubrick, 2001 the odyssey of space (2001: A Space Odyssey) (1968), Michael Gregorio found all his voice and that it voice. As comfortable on stage to imitate a rock guitar, to sing like Michael Jackson, Freddie Mercury, David Bowie but also French singers like Johnny Hallyday, he takes us into his musical universe and delivers some perfectly brought parodies and does not hesitate either to make fun of the Siri application of Apple. With more than forty artists imitated, Michael Gregorio delivers here one of his best shows. The musical pieces follow one another without any false note and makes us spend a memorable moment. This is especially true since it is our first show in over two years.

His new show also allows Michael Gregorio to pay a real tribute to the movies of the 80's such as Dirty Dancing, Rocky IV, Pretty woman and many others. The care given to the work of his voice, his real work tool, is also felt in the musicians who accompany him on stage but also in the excellent work done in the lighting. The many visual finds make this new show more intimate than playing in a huge hall like the Accor Arena a real proximity with the public and his show is even better.  We will also appreciate the importance that takes some video interludes on the big screen present on stage and notably the presence in extracts paying tribute as much to Charlie Chaplin as to the film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg with notably the presence of the sublime Elodie Frégé and the comedian François-Xavier Demaison.

We had the opportunity after tonight's show to meet Michael Gregorio and to discuss with this huge article and to congratulate him in person. While the pandemic linked to covid 19 will have marked us forever, it is important to be able to laugh and sing and to finally feel happy in front of one of the best musical shows discovered in Paris. We can only encourage you to discover this show in Paris or during its French tour next year. Get ready to sing and relive with a rare nostalgia the songs that marked your childhood and that you continue to listen to with the same pleasure that we take to discover this show worthy of the great Las Vegas shows. With a place like the Casino de Paris, this show takes all its meaning and imposes itself as a true event not to be missed on the musical scene.

Synopsis :
Since he was a child, the voice has fascinated him as much as it has intrigued him. For years, Michaël Gregorio has wanted to devote a show to it. L'Odyssée de la voix is an experimental journey, inspired by Stanley Kubrick's film, in which he has fun exploring the voice, from its first stammerings to the initiatory vocalisations, from the velvet voices of jazz to the more saturated voices of Death Metal, through the electric character of pop and rock, the vindictive and robust of rap, the melodic and familiar of variety, the more crystalline of classical music. But to pull too much on the strings, the voice sometimes breaks. There is nothing like a jump in the image to go back to its track, from Chaplin's silent movies to musicals. Image and sound come together again in a universe of songs and voices that have become cult and that we revisit with enchantment.
