Amazon Prime Video today announced the greenlight of a new Amazon Original series, Greek Salad, a contemporary drama that follows the popular L'Auberge espagnole trilogy, created by Cédric Klapisch, along with his team, Lola Doillon and Antoine Garceau (Ten Percent). Twenty years after L'Auberge espagnole, Salade Grecque follows Tom and Mia (the children of Wendy and Xavier, characters from L'Auberge espagnole) who go on a new adventure in Athens. The series is co-produced by Bruno Lévy for Ce qui meut and will air exclusively on Prime Video in France and in more than 240 countries and territories starting in 2022.
Greek Salad tells the story of Mia, a rebellious and rebellious 19-year-old girl who is desperate to break free from her parents, and her 25-year-old brother Tom, who has a brilliant education and high expectations from his family. When their grandfather dies, their lives change when they inherit a building in Athens. Tom flies to the Greek capital to manage the inheritance and secretly hopes to reconnect with his sister who is studying there. Mia and Tom, whose relationship has always been conflictual, will finally find themselves sharing an apartment with people from all over Europe! A far cry from their parents' carefree experience in Barcelona in the early 2000s... Greek Salad highlights the difficulties faced by European youth today. Prime Video subscribers will have a front row seat to share the sorrows, joys, commitments, loves and discoveries experienced by our two heroes and their friends in this contemporary coming-of-age story.
"As we are committed to becoming the home for the best talent, that means working with the best creative minds in France," said Georgia Brown, Director of European Creative for Amazon Studios. "We can't wait to embark on this adventure with Cédric Klapisch for this sequel to one of the most iconic French film sagas of this century and to bring Greek Salad to our subscribers around the world."
"L'Auberge espagnole left a lasting impression on an entire generation of French people, so bringing the Greek Salad sequel into existence is a particularly exciting project," notes Thomas Dubois, Director of French Amazon Originals for Amazon Studios. "We know that Greek Salad will bring a compelling look at coming of age, thanks to Cedric Klapisch's unparalleled ability to mix moments of comedy with deeper subject matter. Greek Salad will be a must-see for Prime subscribers next year."
