For the original film’s score, Kingsman: The Secret Service the composers adopted a British espionage musical approach. For the sequel, a Brit espionage orchestral musical approach is used but since the British spies are coming to America and specifically Kentucky, the composers wanted a unique musical language to convey that region so original Bluegrass music was also written into the nearly two-hour score. For the classic score, a full orchestra recorded in London at both Abbey Road Studios and Air Lyndhurst. For the bluegrass authenticity, leading musicians played instruments indicative of that genre including banjo, dobro, and fiddles along with legendary singer, fiddle player and member of the Bluegrass band Punch Brothers, Gabe Witcher.

Vaughn, Margeson and Jackman have a collaborated on several films, Kick Ass 2, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and X-Men: First Class. Matthew Margeson has quickly built a reputation for his powerful arrangements and his ability to make audiences fall in love with the music. Originally a protégé of Henry Jackman, Margeson’s recent films include, Rings, Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children, Kick Ass 2 He recently scored the heartwarming film, Eddie The Eagle which was produced by Matthew Vaughn.
