From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (Avatar) and Robert Rodriguez (Sin city), comes Alita : Battle Angel, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. Based on Yukito Kishiro's manga Battle Angel Alita, the film is directed by Robert Rodriguez from a screenplay by Cameron and Laeta Kalogridis. The film stars Rosa Salazar in the title role, with supporting roles portrayed by Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson.
James Cameron has stated that he intends to adapt "the spine story" of Yukito Kishiro's original manga, with a specific focus on the first four books. He especially wants to include the fictional sport "Motorball" from the third and fourth volume. It is scheduled to be released on December 21, 2018 in Real D 3D, Dolby Cinema and IMAX 3D.
During the San Diego Comic-Con, a presentation of this upcoming movie had been taken in the Regal Theater at the Horzon Plaza (oddly not in Hall H). The actors Keean Johnson, Rosa Salazar, Scott Mantz and Jon Landau (Producer), Robert Rodriguez (Writer/Director) were present to talk about this movie. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past - she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control.
