Lazy, capricious, party animals, the three children of businessman Francis Bartek do nothing with their lives except spend their father's hard-earned money. Tired of their behavior, he makes them believe that they are totally ruined, thus forcing them to do the unthinkable: work!

Mulder's Review

"This is a very loose adaptation of a successful Mexican film, Nosotros los nobles by Gary Alazraki, in which a father decides to teach his children a lesson that turns against him. The theme appealed to me first of all because I have three children, but also because it evokes current problems concerning transmission. How can we give a taste for effort and work to young people who, thanks to their parents, may have an easier life? How to face the temptations of brands, fashion and over-consumption? It seemed to me that this was an amusing and relevant way, by pushing the comedy slider far, to deal with problems that many parents may be confronted with to different degrees of course." - Nicolas Cuche

When discovering the new comedy of the director Nicolas Cuche, it is impossible not to think of the song of the Inconnus Auteuil Neuilly Passy by discovering these three young adults doing nothing of their life and living only on the hook of their father, Francis Bartek (Gerard Junot) who has taken refuge in his work since the death of their mother. Stella Bartek (Camille Lou) is a youtuber/instagrammer who spends her time shopping in designer stores and with a shady playboy Juan Carlos (Tom Leeb). Philippe Bartek (Artus) is a well-connected guy who works in his father's company but prefers to party all the time and come up with all kinds of crazy ideas for his father. Finally, Alexandre Bartek (Louka Meliava) is a student who got kicked out of almost every high school and university in France and who spends his time jumping on anything that moves.

It's easy to understand why their father decided to set a trap for them by making them believe that they were ruined and that they had to leave the principality of Monaco to go to Marseille to the house of his late father. While Stella, Philippe and Alexandre have never worked in their lives, they will not only have to understand the meaning of reality and of having a job in order to buy food, but also to live with their father in an old house.

After several unnoticed films, the director Nicolas Cuche delivers here a rather successful comedy based on the sympathy capital of the main cast. Gérard Jugnot (perfect in his role of a father overwhelmed by the management of his children), the superb actress Camille Lou who finally finds her best role on screen, the comedian Artus who gives his character an undeniable sympathy capital and the young actor Luka Meliava (Beauty and the Beast (2014), Camping 3 (2016), The Mystery of Henri Pick (2019)) all contribute to make Pourris Gâtés one of the feel-good comedies of the fall. Most of the film's comedic elements come not only from the clash of social classes, the city of Monaco and Marseille, but also from these three young adults who come out of their cocoon of spoiled children to find a job whether it is that of a waitress for Stella, a tuk-tuk driver in Marseille for Philippe or a bricklayer and electrician in their family home in which they have found refuge.

The sense of rhythm is undeniable for a good comedy and director Nicolas Cuche understands this perfectly and his film is a pleasure to watch and manages to make us laugh several times. In the same way, Pourris Gâtés takes a rather accurate look at these newly rich people who have lost the real meaning of life and who don't even realize how difficult it is for some to make ends meet and finish each month financially. It's even more difficult when a crook tries to fleece Francis' family and Francis must not only lie to his children but also find his way back into their hearts.

Certainly Spoiled Rotten is one of the good surprises of this fall and we can only advise you to discover this film when it will be released in France on September 15.
