In the category of haunted objects, we already knew about houses (Amityville), cars (Christine), toys (Child's play), we will have to add to this long list of films, the pair of killer Jeans and we must recognize that behind this new category, there is above all a caricature of our society of over-consumption and a criticism of the sphere of youtubeer imbued with itself and which pollute our daily life. Slaxx not only imposes itself as one of the best horror comedies of this year but shows that the most important thing to succeed in such a film is not its budget but above all its script and an inventive staging with successful interpretations especially that of the young actress Romane Denis.

The scenario places the action in the store of the Canadian Cotton Clothiers chain. While the store's staff prepares for Monday's Folly to launch a new model of jeans created organically, without GMOs, which is similar to a thermally activated denim that fits all sizes. Yet one pair of these new jeans not only turns out to be angry at humans, but starts killing every employee in the store one by one.

Slaxx is Elza Kephart's third film after Graveyard Alive (2003) and Go in the Wilderness (2013). Also, co-scriptwriter, this director delivers not only an original concept by making this horrific film take place during an evening but also in a unique place, a trendy clothing store. Apart from some important flashback scenes and explaining why a pair of jeans not only came to life but also wants to take revenge on humans.

Far from being just another slasher, Elza Kephart's new film is based on a premise as original as it is perfectly mastered. The great care taken in the direction but also on a direction of invested actors and effective special effects, Slaxx is not only jubilant but must be discovered by the greatest number. The scenario gives the pair of killer jeans a real psychological thickness that it is a real personality but also an appearance making its eye bags and its inside a real mouth capable of swallowing, cutting a human being. By highlighting the derivatives of our capitalist society, Slaxx aims right and imposes itself as a pure horror masterpiece that should meet a true cult status.

After having been presented at the Fantasia Canadian International Film Festival and now at the British virtual FrightFest, Slaxx is a real event and should be seen by a very large audience. It will be broadcast in the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand in early 2021 by the Shudder channel.
