You miss Europacorp's action films, Lost Ball should make up for this lack as the model followed by this film seems to apply the same formula, a good actor (Alban Lenoir), spectacular action scenes (we stay far from Hollywood blockbusters, but it's still very effective), effective dialogues but unfortunately an anemic script and an obvious concern for editing and rhythm. Lost Ball is the first feature film written and directed by Guillaume Pierret in which Lino (Alban Lenoir) a mechanical genius is falsely accused of a homicide. The only proof of his innocence: the bullet of the crime, stuck in a missing car.
While Netflix seems to give a greater share to French creations by proposing new series but also films such as recently La terre et le sang (https://mulderville.net/fr/critiques/5386/la-terre-et-le-sang), we can only go in their direction but it would be advisable either to increase the budget of their productions or to find better scriptwriters who do not necessarily seek to copy on certain American productions as did with a certain talent the Europacorp productions (film saga Taxi, Transporteur and others). In this case, we obviously think of Fast and Furious but also of many recent action films.
It is this lack of inventiveness that is particularly noticeable in this first film. We find ourselves with a film with a successful cast (Nicolas Duvauchelle, Ramzy Bedia, Stéfi Celma, Rod Paradot) but which could have been a success if the script had been more accomplished and especially if the director had been able to make better use of the music and a willingness to offer a work coming out of the straitjacket of the modest B-series to show a true author's vision. There remains the pleasure of finding an excellent actor, Alban Lenoir as comfortable in action scenes, chases as in dramatic scenes, on which French cinema should rely more and offer him better roles considering his strong potential.
