The Mist

Spike TV’s latest series is The Mist a television adaptation of the 1980 Stephen King novel of the same name. Show Creator Christian Torpe has taken the source material created by King and developed a television series that can run all on its own. With an ensemble cast that rounds out the roster critics and fans alike are hopeful for the one hour psychological thriller just as they should be.

Alyssa Sutherland (Viking) plays school teacher Eve Copeland that is resented by the vast majority of the small town of Bridgton due to her past. Misogyny clearly is an underlining theme of the first episode and will more than likely continue to expose the conflicting characters working against Eve. She has an authoritarian demeanor that takes no slack from anyone and will be an intriguing lead female protagonist to follow.

Husband to Eve is Kevin, who is portrayed by Morgan Spector (Persons of Interest). Kevin takes on the quintessential mantle of the righteous do gooder and it will be interesting to watch how his character transforms throughout the series or if he will even be able to sustain his principled mentality. Utterly devoted to his wife and daughter Kevin is also the virtuous man viewers can rally behind, so if he falters so shall we.

Alex (Gus Birney) is the daughter of Eve and Kevin and is dealing with her own hardship while in the background of her teenage life the mysterious evil enters her town. Alex is strong willed, defiant and naive and will draw in the youthful Stephen King fans that need a resonating character to relate to.


Jay (Luke Cosgrove) is the high school star football player, the sheriff's son and the love interest for Alex. Investigations into what Jay may or may not have done the night previous to the supernatural fog that rolls into town has the people of Bridgton divided.

The first thread of the series follows the Copeland family while the second follows Okezie Morrow as Bryan Hunt, and the third following Danica Curcic as Mia. Bryan appears as a soldier of Arrowhead which might connect later down the line to the novel as it is a theory proposed by the characters of King’s work. Bryan suffers from amnesia and is the first to encounter the deadly mist. Mia is a tough as nails drug addict that is searching for a stash of money. Much is shrouded about the importance of Bryan and Mia but enough is displayed to cause intrigue.

Show creator Christian Torpe has invented an entire group of diverse characters with flaws and strengths that they will all have to overcome to survive the evil within The Mist.
