I love almost every comic movie, actually, not all, but I appreciate the transition to big screen. And let us be honest, the Marvel line doesn’t really have any set female heroes that have made it on their own movie, tv shows maybe. When it was announced that Gal Gadot was going to be Superwoman, people were so angry, just like Affleck as Batman (turned out great), and when even Heath Ledger was joker (turned out amazing). But she pushed through, she did her training, she didn’t have to lose her svelte figure and gain a ton of muscle mass to prove she was an Amazon. She fought just as fierce, her training was just as hard, and nobody seems to remember Olivia Munn as Psylocke and her training videos, or Daisy Ridley as Rey. But I digress, Gal Gadot pushed herself to the limit and more.
The storyline of her history was well plotted, I love Greek mythology and how they applied it. The Amazons themselves were so well played and shown as the fierce and hidden warriors that they were were. The imaging itself was just beautiful, you see it in the previews, but as you see more of it, well it borderlines of the lands of Thor with the imagination that created it. Hippolyta explains multiple stories to Diana about the creation of man and the Amazons itself. Unfortunately, she leaves out key components, which you notice when Diana is the only child. It also explains that Aries, the God of war (identity will not be given as a spoiler) is hidden somewhere in the world as a villain just waiting, and looking for Diana herself. The barrier that hides their world is pierced only by accident and we see a crashing plane that has lost control with Steve Trevor as the captain. In the end, Diana comes to the world with her basic knowledge and her awkward way of learning. She wants to go to the front where the worst of the fighting is, believing that she will destroy Aries and that the feel of the war will go away.
Since the movie is amazing and the woman is such a strong wonderful representation, and her understanding of human nature is a rough battle, it’s amazing to watch. The range of types of people in the world is a hard thing to grasp in just a matter of days. And of course, since we are dealing with a astoundingly beautiful woman, and an amazing looking good guy, well we know some form of relationship is going to happen. As they save cities, give people hope, track the awful creations of war, you actually kind of start to remember……Captain America: First Avenger, there, I said it.
You have a super hero in a World War scenario, pushing through every possible barrier, having the trust of the people, becoming the hero of the ones they saved. Finding something that they believe in and another person in the service that they fall for along the way (aka Agent Carter). There is a weapon in the end, related to the war and separate from Diana’s battle, an awful gas. They have it loaded into a 1 plane (sound familiar to Captain America?), oh and don’t forget his name is Steve (Captain America is Steve Rogers), and this plane has a timer going, no matter what happens, it will detonate each bomb. Diana is fighting another battle while Steve is realizing this, he runs to her, gives her a speech (which she doesn’t hear until later because she has hearing damage from the battle), and then takes off in the plane. She looks at the world and the people around her, feels damaged and is not sure where her faith is, until she hears the speech, where in the end love is declared.
Unfortunately, this is not before Steve has detonated the plane at the highest point possible in the sky, to save the rest of the world (kind of like Steve Rogers crashing into the ice to keep the World War 2 weapons from affecting the world.) Unfortunately the comparisons are just so close that it was a little bothersome, but that doesn’t make the battle that Wonder Woman go through any less extraordinary, or what she has to discover about herself. As a personal Captain America fan myself, I would rate it 3.5 just because of that storyline being a little bit too close. But as a person who loved the Wonder Woman movie on its own, I would give it a 4.5, so you’re actually really going to have to see it on your own to decide how you feel about it.

Wonder Woman brings DC universe to the front of the line
Wonder Woman part of the DC Universe is the first movie from DC Entertainment Inc. to finally get it right. The visuals and graphics have been amazing in each movie from the DC Universe and the overall action was exciting but each movie was missing something. Gal Gadot and and Director Patty Jenkins were that missing something, that special spice that forced me against my will to see the movie not once, not twice but to actually pay full price three times to watch Wonder Woman.
In the United States Wonder Woman opened with a huge $103.3 million weekend, eclipsing the $65 million projection which will give Warner Brothers studio a hint that they do not need to shake up a good combination of actors and director Jenkins. Wonder Woman starts off with a solid foundation of where Diana Prince played by Emily Carey as a young Amazon learning the ropes of being a fighter from Antiope played by Robin Wright against the best wishes of her mother Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons played by Connie Nelsen. As we meet the young Diana, we see where her entire personality of righteousness and strength comes from in an early stage and quickly fall in love with the character. If you have not already become a fan of Wonder Woman after her introduction in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, you should be a fan now!
As time fast forwards and we meet up with Gal Gadot adult Diana Price still kicking butts and taking on Antiope the General of the Amazons and finding her first superpowers and blasting away the entire competition. But as this new power occurs, she doesn't understand what has occurred and runs away and fine Steve Trevor played by none other than Chris Pine! As if the movie could not get any better, as Steve and Diana interact and become friends and something more, with just the right combination of leviety thrown we meet the rest of the cast of Wonder Woman from the helpful allies to the evil villain General Ludendorff by Danny Huston who is believed to be Aries the God of War who is the mortal enemy of the Amazons for causing Man to fall from grace and create endless war and destruction.
Without giving away too much of the movie for those few dozen people in the world who have not gone to the theater this week and watched Wonder Woman; First shame on you, but secondly, the acting was spot on, the comedy was a perfect blend without going overboard. The movie was paced slow enough to allow character development but with sufficient movement to sweep you along with story. And we can not forget there is romance because without heartbreak you can not have growth and strength which was enough to give you a gut check and if you were not brought to tears at least once, then frankly you must not have been paying attention to the movie.
Each visual and every scene that makes up this movie was worked on by many different peoples and companies. Aaron Sims Creative is one that we were able to catch up with and interview which we will be able to share with you shortly along with some content.
