Paris is set to welcome a new form of entertainment that could well redefine the way audiences experience stories. Starting April 16, 2026, LIVE CINEMA officially opens its doors at 226 Rue Saint-Denis in the capital’s 2nd arrondissement, with an ambitious promise: to fuse the best of escape games, immersive theater, and blockbuster cinema into a single interactive experience. Designed as a true blockbuster in which the audience becomes the heroes, the concept offers a two-hour scripted adventure during which participants no longer watch the story—they live it. Behind this project is the team at Lock Academy, a renowned French brand in the escape game industry and a multiple award winner at the Escape Game Awards in Île-de-France, which is taking a new step forward by creating an even more ambitious experience inspired by Europe’s most spectacular immersive attractions.
The concept of LIVE CINEMA is based on a simple yet incredibly effective idea: placing players at the center of a narrative worthy of the biggest Hollywood productions. In groups of three to six people, participants are recruited for a secret mission that takes them into the heart of a scenario blending espionage, science fiction, and adventure, with the goal of infiltrating the legendary Area 51. The experience unfolds across more than 550 m² and traverses 25 fully staged rooms, each designed like a movie set in which players move freely. Among the announced environments is a complete recreation of an abandoned subway platform—a detail that illustrates the scale of the production and the care taken to ensure immersion. Unlike a traditional escape game, the scenario isn’t limited to solving puzzles: the decisions made by participants directly influence the unfolding of the story, creating an evolving narrative akin to interactive cinema.

One of the most striking elements of this new attraction is the presence of actors integrated into the narrative, who interact in real time with the players and adapt their reactions based on the choices made. This blend of life-size gameplay and live performance brings LIVE CINEMA closer to certain forms of immersive theater that have gained popularity in recent years, while retaining the playful structure of an escape game. The creative team’s stated goal is clear: to offer a hybrid experience capable of appealing to puzzle game enthusiasts as well as fans of cinema or interactive performances. In the production notes, Laurent Ifrah, president of Live Cinema, explains that the project was conceived as a new way of telling stories, where the audience truly becomes a participant in the narrative. According to him, the ambition was to offer an adventure unlike any other in France, capable of giving the sensation of participating in a life-size action movie rather than watching it on a screen.
This positioning is part of a broader trend in immersive entertainment, which has been experiencing strong growth in Europe for several years. Next-generation escape games, participatory theatrical experiences, and interactive attractions inspired by cinema are enjoying growing success with an audience seeking more direct and physical sensations than those offered by traditional forms of entertainment. In France, Lock Academy is among the companies that have helped popularize this type of experience, and LIVE CINEMA appears as the logical evolution of this expertise, with a production closer to a show than a simple game. The choice of a location right in the heart of Paris further confirms the desire to reach a wide audience, whether they are escape game enthusiasts, tourists, or spectators curious to discover a new form of immersive storytelling.

Beyond the concept, the practical details also highlight the scale of the project. The experience lasts about two hours and takes place several times a day, with sessions held on weekdays from 3:15 PM to 9:40 PM and on weekends from 10:00 AM to 9:40 PM. Prices vary depending on the size of the group, ranging from 75 euros per person for a group of three players to 49 euros per person for six participants—a pricing strategy consistent with the high-end immersive productions currently offered in the capital. Reservations are open on the experience’s official website, and the marketing surrounding the launch clearly suggests that the creators view LIVE CINEMA as a new type of show in its own right, halfway between an attraction, a game, and a theatrical performance.
With its blend of interactive storytelling, spectacular sets, and live performances, LIVE CINEMA could well represent a major milestone in the evolution of immersive entertainment in France. By promising participants the chance to live a movie rather than just watch it, the team led by Laurent Ifrah is banking on a simple yet powerful idea: transforming the spectator into a hero and turning entertainment into a total experience. If this promise is fulfilled, the opening on April 16, 2026, could mark the arrival of a new genre of show in the Parisian landscape, capable of appealing to thrill-seekers as well as film and interactive storytelling enthusiasts.
