Disney+ - Lucky Luke: the series is finally revealed in a first trailer

By Mulder, 16 february 2026

Disney+ has been quicker than a flash, revealing the very first trailer for Lucky Luke, due out on March 23, 2026. This first glimpse immediately sets the tone: raw energy, fast-paced action, and a confident reinterpretation of a cultural icon. The fast-paced and visually dense trailer establishes Alban Lenoir in a role that is both faithful to the mythical silhouette of the lone cowboy and anchored in a contemporary physicality. From the very first seconds, Benjamin Rocher's direction sets a brisk pace, alternating between duels, chases, comical moments, and more dramatic scenes, while the cinematography by Maxime Cointe and Steeven Petitteville favors a dusty, contrasting texture that eschews the “postcard” Western in favor of a rawer, almost tactile West, where every movement seems to carry weight.

At the heart of this reinterpretation, the synopsis revealed in the production notes comes to life on screen: Lucky Luke must help Louise, an endearing and unpredictable 18-year-old woman, on a quest across the Wild West to find her mysteriously disappeared mother, all against the backdrop of a conspiracy capable of changing the course of American history. The trailer hints at a very strong dynamic between the hero and Louise, played by Billie Blain, with a play of contrasts between irony, tension, and forced complicity. Several shots also suggest that the series does not intend to limit itself to spectacular adventure: lingering glances, heavy silences, and fragments of a troubled past point to a more intimate exploration of the origins of the legend, a narrative focus confirmed by creators Mathieu Leblanc and Thomas Mansuy, supported in the writing by Justine Kim Gautier and Julie-Anna Grignon.

The trailer also highlights the gallery of iconic figures who gravitate around Lucky Luke, always a delicate issue in this universe where supporting roles are as eagerly awaited as the hero himself: Jérôme Niel appears as Joe Dalton with a grating nervousness that seems to play on the border between threat and comedy, Camille Chamoux plays a Calamity Jane with a strong presence, while Victor Le Blond lends his features to Billy the Kid; In a few sequences, Romain Imbert's editing orchestrates these appearances as promises of explosive interactions, hinting at unexpected alliances, ironic confrontations, and that unique blend of action and humor that has been the DNA of Lucky Luke since Morris and René Goscinny.

Behind this launch, the production architecture reflects a clearly stated ambition: the series is produced by Rémi Préchac, Géraldine Gendre, Lionel Uzan, Julien Vallespi, and Alban Lenoir, with Federation Studios, Un Pour Tous Productions, Homerun, and France Télévisions, before being broadcast on Disney+ and then France 2. It is noteworthy that Alban Lenoir is not only taking on the title role, but is also acting as co-producer through his company, an involvement which, according to several observers, may influence the consistency of the tone and physical direction of the character, an area in which the actor has made a name for himself in recent years through demanding action roles. This dual role is particularly significant in a project aimed at reviving a cultural heritage, where the balance between respect for the myth and modernity is a delicate one.

Finally, we must consider the symbolic significance of this first trailer on the eve of a major anniversary: created in 1946 by Morris and enriched in 1955 by René Goscinny, Lucky Luke will celebrate his 80th birthday in 2026, with more than 300 million albums sold and translated into more than 36 languages. Each audiovisual adaptation is therefore much more than just entertainment, touching on a collective imagination firmly rooted in several generations of readers and viewers. By revealing this trailer and scheduling a special screening of the first three episodes at Séries Mania on March 22, Disney+ is positioning the series as one of the major events of spring 2026, with a promise that is now tangible: Lucky Luke is back to combine spectacle, adventure, and dramatic reinterpretation without sacrificing the irreverent spirit that made him a legend.

Disney+ also points out that the series will be available in a secure viewing environment thanks to its enhanced parental controls (PIN-locked profiles and junior profiles), while the platform continues to expand its offering of original creations, films, and international series. But beyond catalog strategies, it is this first batch of images that is grabbing attention today, as it finally fulfills an expectation that has been building since the project was announced: to see Lucky Luke galloping again, no longer just as an iconic silhouette, but as a hero of flesh, dust, and movement.

Synopsis:
Lucky Luke, the legendary lone cowboy, must help Louise, an 18-year-old girl... as prickly as a cactus and more unpredictable than a rabid coyote. Together, they embark on a quest across the Wild West to find Louise's mother, who has mysteriously disappeared, while foiling a plot that could change the course of American history. A thrilling adventure that explores both the past and the future of the hero who shoots faster than his shadow. Between duels, chases, furious headbutts, and unexpected alliances with the Daltons, Billy the Kid, and Calamity Jane, our unlikely duo will discover that the greatest challenge is not saving America... but working together!
