At San Diego Comic-Con 2025, FX will launch its most ambitious activation to date with Alien: Earth, a television event designed to jolt life—and death—into one of the most revered science fiction franchises in cinematic history. Taking place from July 24 to July 27, FX will not only host the world premiere of the series in the legendary Hall H, but also introduce an expansive, spine-chilling experience called “The Wreckage” on the Hilton Bayfront lawn. This immersive environment will invite fans to step into the aftermath of a catastrophic space crash involving the USCSS Maginot and plunge them into a world where human ambition and alien horror violently collide. By day, attendees will explore the haunting debris field, uncover unsettling secrets from the series’ lore, and interact with artifacts from the doomed mission. By night, “The Wreckage: Code Red” will escalate the tension with a harrowing mission scenario, pushing visitors through a pulse-pounding narrative experience unlike anything Comic-Con has seen before. Interactive stations such as the Prodigy Corp Drop Site will offer sneak peeks of upcoming VR tie-ins and exclusive giveaways, while a high-tech podcast studio will host cast members and influencers for live recordings—ensuring Alien: Earth extends its reach beyond traditional screens.
FX’s Alien: Earth, created by Noah Hawley and executive produced by Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzales, and Clayton Krueger, is set to premiere August 12 on FX, Hulu, and Disney+ platforms globally. The series will serve as a daring prequel to the 1979 original film directed by Ridley Scott, and is set in the year 2120—a time when five mega-corporations (Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold) dominate the globe, their technological innovations reshaping human existence and pushing the boundaries of artificial life. Unlike Prometheus or Alien: Covenant, which veered toward philosophical prequels, Alien: Earth will return to the cold sweat terror and industrial grimness of the original, threading themes of unchecked ambition, corporate overreach, and biological horror through a world where cyborgs, synthetics, and new hybrid beings—robots with human consciousness—exist side by side. The series’ central prototype, Wendy, embodies this next-gen evolution and raises ethical questions about identity, mortality, and power. Following the crash of a Weyland-Yutani vessel into Prodigy City, Wendy and her fellow hybrids encounter life forms far more terrifying than any algorithm or corporate espionage—they discover monsters born not of men, but of cosmic, inhuman design.
The Hall H panel, scheduled for Friday, July 25 from 1:25pm to 2:50pm, is expected to be one of the most talked-about moments of the convention. Noah Hawley will be joined by David W. Zucker and an impressive international cast including Sydney Chandler, Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Adarsh Gourav, and David Rysdahl. The pilot episode will be screened in full before an extended Q&A session, which promises to dive deep into the development history, narrative philosophy, and technical craft of the show. Notably, Alien: Earth endured a long and winding road to production. Initially announced in December 2020 during Disney's Investor Day, the show was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. Filming began in Thailand on July 19, 2023, with British cast members allowed to continue shooting under Equity contracts. The production was briefly halted but resumed in April 2024, wrapping by mid-July under the cinematographic guidance of Dana Gonzales, Bella Gonzales, and Colin Watkinson. These hurdles, however, only seem to have sharpened the creative vision, as early insider buzz points to an audacious, high-concept sci-fi horror series that melds slow-burn dread with body-horror and philosophical edge—hallmarks of the franchise’s best moments.
Attendees at San Diego Comic-Con will be among the first to witness not only the return of the Xenomorph mythos to its roots, but also the franchise’s first real exploration of Earth-based terror. The decision to set the show on our home planet, rather than in deep space, opens up new dimensions—literally and thematically—for horror. The claustrophobia of a spaceship is replaced by sprawling urban decay, cybernetic cities, and corporate enclaves that may be even more frightening. With a score by Jeff Russo and a heavy emphasis on practical effects blended with cutting-edge CG, Alien: Earth is poised to reintroduce terror into the everyday and challenge what we thought we knew about the Alien timeline. Fans looking to immerse themselves further will be able to claim limited-edition merchandise, taste a one-of-a-kind beverage from pop-culture culinary lab Chain, and become FX Insiders with early access to new content and behind-the-scenes material.
If one thing is clear heading into SDCC 2025, it’s that Alien: Earth isn’t just another spin-off or prequel—it’s a cultural event, a reclamation of what made the original Alien so timeless, and a bold step forward in serialized sci-fi horror storytelling. With Noah Hawley at the helm and a pitch-perfect cast of rising stars and genre veterans, FX’s gamble to bring the Xenomorphs to Earth—and to the biggest fan convention in the world—might just redefine what prestige horror television can look like. And for those lucky enough to walk through “The Wreckage,” the horror won’t just be on screen; it will be underfoot, in the shadows, and possibly—just possibly—right behind you.
Synopsis :
When a mysterious spaceship crashes on Earth, a young woman and a group of soldiers make an incredible discovery that confronts them with the greatest threat the planet has ever known. In 2120, Earth is ruled by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. At this time, cyborgs (humans with biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) coexist with humans. But the game changes when the young prodigy, founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation, unveils a new technological breakthrough: hybrids (humanoid robots with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype, named Wendy, marks a new era in the race for immortality. After the collision of the Weyland-Yutani spaceship with Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have imagined... Prequel set two years before the events of Ridley Scott's film “Alien” (1979).
