Convention - SDCC 2025 : Anakin and Obi-Wan’s Legendary Duel Becomes a Collector’s Dream

By Mulder, 13 june 2025

With San Diego Comic-Con 2025 just around the corner, anticipation is already burning hotter than the molten rivers of Mustafar, and nowhere is that more evident than at the heart of Hasbro’s booth. A centerpiece of their upcoming convention exclusives, the newly announced Star Wars: The Black Series Anakin Skywalker & Obi-Wan Kenobi two-pack is already generating immense buzz among collectors and die-hard Star Wars fans alike. Set to debut at Booth #3213, this stunning $109.99 set isn’t just a pair of figures—it’s an emotional time capsule, capturing one of the most heartbreaking confrontations in sci-fi cinema history. With the 20th anniversary of Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith still fresh in our minds following its 4DX re-release earlier this year, Hasbro’s offering couldn’t be arriving at a more perfect moment to channel that nostalgic fire into something tangible, dramatic, and display-worthy.

What elevates this release far above a standard action figure drop is its sheer theatricality. Built from the ground up with new sculpts, improved articulation, and a wealth of cinematic detail, the 6-inch scale figures of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi go beyond likeness—they capture emotion. Enhanced with ankle pivots and boot swivels, these figures can be posed in dynamic recreations of the duel that changed the galaxy forever. Each Jedi warrior comes equipped with a signature lightsaber, alternate head sculpts, interchangeable Force-push hands, swinging blade effects, and a lightsaber clash attachment to heighten the drama. But it’s the two-part lava base—modeled after the very terrain that witnessed the destruction of a brotherhood—that solidifies this as a true collector’s centerpiece. There’s even a droid platform to replicate those tense mid-air combat moments during the climax of the film.

Hasbro has clearly poured as much passion into this set as George Lucas did into directing Revenge of the Sith, a film that’s undergone a remarkable reappraisal over the past two decades. Once divisive, it’s now often considered the strongest installment of the prequel trilogy, especially for its operatic gravitas and haunting portrayal of Anakin Skywalker’s tragic downfall. This exclusive doesn’t just feed off that reverence—it enhances it. The sculpted textures, especially the leather-like detailing on Anakin’s robes, echo the screen-worn costumes from the film. Ewan McGregor’s stoic visage as Obi-Wan Kenobi has been recreated with an artist’s sensitivity, reflecting both the determination and sorrow etched across his face as he confronted the apprentice he once loved like a brother.

Adding to the drama is the figure base, which isn’t just a static platform but a fully configurable environment. Like a miniature set piece ripped straight from Mustafar’s flaming cliffs, the display allows fans to recreate key stances and outcomes of the duel—including the devastating high ground moment. With a collector’s box featuring a sliding slipcover that reveals the full lava-laden scene underneath, the packaging design itself becomes part of the experience. It's an artistic tribute as much as it is a collectible. These kinds of touches are precisely why Hasbro’s SDCC exclusives are consistently among the most sought-after each year. And as always, while the figures will debut physically at San Diego Comic-Con, limited quantities will be made available online afterward via HasbroPulse.com—though if past years are any indication, fans will need Jedi reflexes to grab one.

In many ways, this release reflects the growing affection for the Prequel Era. What was once met with skepticism is now embraced with full-throated appreciation by a generation that grew up with it. The duel between Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi remains the emotional core of Revenge of the Sith—a scene that fans have reenacted in schoolyards, quoted in memes, and revisited countless times on streaming. The new Black Series set taps directly into this cultural memory, transforming it into something fans can hold, pose, and display as a permanent homage. It’s no surprise that buzz is already building around Hasbro’s SDCC lineup, but this set stands apart as a defining release not just for the con, but for the year as a whole.

As we count down the days to San Diego Comic-Con 2025, this Anakin and Obi-Wan two-pack stands as more than just a toy—it’s a symbol of Star Wars’ enduring legacy, a love letter to storytelling at its most tragic, and a reminder that the bond between a Jedi and his fallen apprentice still strikes a powerful chord. Whether you're attending the convention in person or preparing your refresh button for Hasbro Pulse, one thing is clear: the high ground this year belongs to Hasbro.
