Apple TV+ has officially revealed the first images of BE@RBRICK, a new animated series designed for the whole family. Inspired by the globally recognized collectible figurines from MEDICOM TOY, the series is set to premiere on March 21, 2025. Produced by DreamWorks Animation and Dentsu Inc., BE@RBRICK promises an engaging blend of storytelling and music, featuring original tracks by acclaimed producer Timbaland.
The 13-episode series follows the story of Jasmine and her friends as they strive to pursue their dreams in a world where societal roles are pre-determined by color assignments upon graduating. Through determination and music, they seek to challenge the status quo and inspire others to embrace individuality and self-expression. The series aims to resonate with audiences of all ages, promoting themes of acceptance, perseverance, and the power of self-discovery.
Developed by Meghan McCarthy, known for her work on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Centaurworld, BE@RBRICK boasts a talented creative team. Alex Almaguer (TrollsTopia) serves as production supervisor, Taylor Orci (Kipo and the Age of the Animalizers) oversees the screenplay, and Athena Hofmann (Amateur) manages production. The voice cast includes Brianna Bryan as Jasmine, Skyla I'Lece as Holly, Isaiah Crews as Nick, Alison Jaye as Ada, and Noah Bentley as Klaus. With Timbaland at the helm of the music production, the soundtrack has been crafted by Jina Hyojin An (XO, Kitty) and Shirley Song (Exploding Kittens).
The announcement of the BE@RBRICK series marks another collaboration between Apple TV+ and DreamWorks Animation, following projects such as Cursed by John Krasinski, Pinecone and Pony, and Doug: The Curious Robot. With DreamWorks' legacy of producing high-quality animated content, fans can anticipate stunning visuals and a compelling storyline that seamlessly merges animation with music.
First introduced in 2001, BE@RBRICK figures have become a cultural phenomenon in the world of collectible designer toys. Created by MediCom Toy Incorporated, these anthropomorphized bear figurines are known for their minimalist design and diverse collaborations with renowned artists, designers, and global brands. The figures consist of nine parts that allow for eight points of articulation, making them both highly stylized and versatile collectibles. BE@RBRICK figures are produced in various sizes, with the standard being 100% (seven centimeters tall). Other variations include 50%, 70%, 400%, and the highly sought-after 1000% models. Over the years, the toy line has seen numerous limited-edition releases, utilizing materials like wood, felt, and even glow-in-the-dark plastic.
What sets BE@RBRICK apart from other collectible toys is its extensive range of collaborations. The brand has worked with high-fashion icons such as Karl Lagerfeld and Vivienne Westwood, as well as contemporary artists like H. R. Giger and graffiti artist Stash. It has also partnered with popular franchises, including Kill Bill, Nike, and G-Shock, resulting in some of the most exclusive and valuable designer toys in the market today. The figures are often released in blind box assortments, making each purchase a surprise for collectors.
By adapting BE@RBRICK into an animated series, Apple TV+ and DreamWorks Animation aim to introduce the iconic toy to a broader audience while preserving its artistic roots. The series' narrative will explore self-expression, creativity, and breaking societal norms, all themes that align with the toy's legacy of individuality and design innovation. With a strong production team and a unique premise, BE@RBRICK is poised to be a standout addition to Apple TV+'s growing catalog of family-friendly content. The combination of a rich visual world, engaging characters, and an emotionally resonant storyline ensures that BE@RBRICK will appeal to both new viewers and long-time fans of the collectible. As anticipation builds, Apple TV+ subscribers can look forward to a visually striking and musically immersive experience when the series debuts on March 21, 2025.
