The Académie des César opened the 2025 film year by awarding the prestigious César & Techniques prizes on Monday January 13. This not-to-be-missed event for France's film technical industry spotlighted two companies of excellence: TSF Studios “Les Rues de Paris” and MPC (Mikros).
Founded in 1979, TSF has established itself as a key player in the field of technical shooting equipment. The
Trophée César & Techniques 2025 was awarded to its emblematic Backlot Rues de Paris, Europe's largest backlot with 2 hectares of sets. This vast space gives directors, cinematographers and set designers total freedom to create unique worlds in perfect harmony with the demands of their scripts.
This award recognizes the vital role played by TSF Studios in supporting and developing film creation in France. By offering an environment adapted to the most varied artistic and technical needs, TSF contributes to the making of exceptional films and to the influence of the national film industry.
This year's Innovation Award went to MPC (Mikros), a company renowned for its post-production expertise and innovative VFX solutions. MPC stood out thanks to a revolutionary open source tool that automates camera tracking. This innovation makes camera movements precise during shooting, saving precious time when setting up visual effects.
With this technological breakthrough, MPC is actively participating in the development of new methods for creating and optimizing film post-production. This achievement is part of an eco-responsible approach to enhancing the quality of audiovisual content.
The selection process involved all professionals eligible for the six César Techniques 2025 awards. Also taking part in the vote were the production and post-production directors of the films competing for the César du Meilleur Film 2025, the nominees for the César Techniques of the last two years, and the heads of FICAM member companies. The vote, conducted online and under the supervision of a court commissioner, took place between January 3 and 13, 2025.
The Académie des César would like to thank its institutional partners for their invaluable support in organizing this annual event. The FICAM, represented by its president Didier Huck, and the Audiens Group, headed by Frédéric Olivennes, contributed to the success of this ceremony, which celebrates the entire film industry.
This first ceremony of the year once again confirms the importance of innovation and technical know-how in film creation. TSF Studios and MPC embody French excellence in a constantly evolving sector.
