Hulu is bringing the magic of animation back to San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) this year with its highly anticipated Animayhem Factory. This vibrant and immersive experience will transport fans into the heart of their favorite animated series, including iconic titles like Futurama, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, The Simpsons, and many more. Located at the Bayfront’s Parking Lot right next to the Convention Center, the Animayhem Factory promises a whimsical journey through the world of 2D animation, running from July 25th to July 28th.
Starting on July 25th, the Animayhem Factory opens its doors from 11:30 AM to 7:00 PM, and from July 26th to 27th, it welcomes guests daily from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM. On the final day, July 28th, the factory will be open from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM. This four-day event offers fans of all ages a chance to dive into a zany 2D factory where they can interact with beloved shows and characters, and take home themed memorabilia from popular titles like Solar Opposites, Hit Monkey, Futurama, The Simpsons, and many others.
One of the main attractions is the Futurama Slurm Factory Tour. Fans will be greeted by a larger-than-life Slurm Queen and a thirsty Bender, providing a unique peek into how the infamous lime green beverage, Slurm, is made. The area is adorned with 2D cutouts of favorite characters like Fry, Leela, and the Grunka Lunkas, creating perfect photo opportunities. Audio excerpts of Futurama’s Willy Wonka-inspired Slurm Factory music will play in the background, enhancing the experience.
Celebrating the 25th anniversary of Family Guy, the Cutawayland invites fans to explore the show's best cutaway gags. By selecting a 2D object corresponding to a cutaway scene, fans can trigger retro TV screens that display classic moments from the show. Life-size cutouts of the Griffin family, dressed in their finest yellow tuxedos, offer an additional keepsake photo opportunity, marking 25 years of the show's humor and wit.
In the Simpsons LardLad Donut Factory, guests can watch donuts get hand-glazed with toxic icing, thanks to a partnership with Randy’s Donuts. Mr. Burns’ antics add a humorous twist to this sweet experience, creating a memorable visit for all donut lovers. This activation brings a slice of Springfield to SDCC, allowing fans to indulge in a beloved aspect of the long-running series.
For those who enjoy a bit of a challenge, the CIA Lab-inspired Operation game from American Dad offers an engaging experience. Fans will help put Roger the Alien back together by navigating through his scattered organs. Completing the challenge allows participants to take a photo with Roger’s Golden Turd, adding a unique and humorous twist to the interactive exhibit.
Bob’s Burgers fans can showcase their singing talents at the Record-O-Matic recording booth. Here, they can dance and lip sync to songs from the series, and take home a shareable video of their performance. This activity highlights the show's rich catalog of end-credit songs and offers a fun, interactive experience for attendees.
The Solar Opposites Goobler Stress Test measures fans' stress levels, from totally chill like Terry to super stressed like Korvo. Participants place their hands on a stress sensor that determines their stress level and receive a corresponding Goobler stress ball based on the results. This activity provides a playful way to manage convention-induced stress while connecting with the show’s quirky characters.
In the Hit Monkey Katana Factory, guests are challenged to find the Bonsai Master’s Sword. They will approach a large-scale installation with several katanas stuck in a forge and choose which sword they believe is the Bonsai Master’s. The guest who pulls the correct sword will win an exclusive pack of Hit Monkey pins, making this a thrilling and rewarding experience for fans of the series.
After exploring the factory, guests can take a break in a themed relaxation area featuring The Great North, Krapopolis, and Grimsburg. The Great North’s Alaskan fridge blasts cool air, providing a refreshing escape from the San Diego heat. The Krapopolis vending machine offers memorable items and Easter eggs from the show, while the Grimsburg crime board allows fans to pose with their favorite characters in a true crime-inspired setting.
