Max, the streaming service from Warner Bros. Discovery, and Starbucks, the global coffee giant, have joined forces to launch a unique brand partnership in Europe, entitled Max Nights, Starbucks Mornings. This innovative partnership invites fans of the HBO series "House of the Dragon" to immerse themselves even further in the show's universe by choosing sides between #teamBlack and #teamGreen, symbolizing the series' intense rivalry. This theme is cleverly exploited through a range of exclusive drinks available in Starbucks lounges in France, Spain and Portugal.
For a limited time, consumers will be able to discover a new drinks menu inspired by "House of the Dragon" in Starbucks lounges in all three countries. Everyone will be able to express their loyalty to one of the series' factions, either Team Black or Team Green. In France, where Max was launched on June 11, consumers will be able to choose between a Targaryen Americano, an Iced Americano with Cream cold foam, for #TeamBlack, and a Dracarys Matcha, an Iced White Mocha Matcha Tea Latte, for #TeamGreen. These drinks, available from June 27 to July 26, are enhanced with a new cold cream foam on top, adding a unique touch to the Starbucks experience.
In Spain and Portugal, from June 24 to July 31, Starbucks fans can show their loyalty to #TeamBlack by choosing between a Targaryen Frappuccino or a Black Queen Cold Brew. Those who prefer to support King Aegon II Targaryen and #TeamGreen can opt for a Green King Iced Matcha or a Dracarys Matcha Frappuccino. A total of 185 Starbucks lounges in these two countries will take part in the campaign, allowing fans to immerse themselves in the world of the series with every sip.
This collaboration marks a first between Starbucks and Max, and it doesn't stop at simply offering drinks. Flagship Starbucks lounges in Paris (Starbucks Opéra) and Lyon (Starbucks 65 République), Madrid (Starbucks Alcalá) and Barcelona (Starbucks Pelai) will be transformed to reflect the iconography of House Targaryen, divided between #TeamBlack and #TeamGreen. Customers at these iconic locations will thus be immersed in an immersive atmosphere, offering them a unique visual and taste experience.
The partnership between Max and Starbucks will be supported by an extensive co-branded outdoor advertising campaign in Spain, Portugal and France. Covering the entire promotional period, the campaign aims to reach a combined audience of over 100 million people across the three countries, including 53 million in France. This ambitious communications strategy reflects both brands' commitment to delivering a memorable experience to their customers.
Rebecca Rormark, Senior Vice President, Streaming Marketing, EMEA, Warner Bros. Discovery, expressed her excitement about the collaboration: "As the divide between green and black intensifies, we're thrilled to partner with Starbucks to invite fans in Spain, France and Portugal to choose sides with this limited-edition House of the Dragon-themed drink range. And as the drama intensifies with each week's episode on Max, loyalties will be tested and fans will have the opportunity to maintain or change their allegiance, with this special menu available for the next four weeks.
The Max Nights, Starbucks Mornings collaboration highlights Starbucks' iconic coffees and matchas as the perfect allies to face the day after an evening spent watching "House of the Dragon" on Max. The second season of the series has been available for streaming on Max since June 17, and marked the biggest second-season launch in the history of Warner Bros. Discovery in the region. Based on the book Fire & Blood by George R.R. Martin, the series is set 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and tells the tumultuous story of House Targaryen, dominated by their dragons and internal struggles for power.
Participating lounges in France include Starbucks Opéra in Paris and Starbucks République in Lyon, while in Spain, locations include Starbucks Alcalá in Madrid and Starbucks Pelai in Barcelona. Each of these lounges will offer a unique immersive experience, transporting customers into the epic world of "House of the Dragon".
