By Mulder, 07 june 2024

In an exciting announcement today, Hasbro has unveiled their latest HasLab crowd-funding project: the Star Wars : The Vintage Collection Mos Eisley Cantina. This new project celebrates one of the most iconic locations in the Star Wars universe, bringing the infamous cantina from Star Wars: A New Hope to life with remarkable detail and accuracy. This set promises to be a dream come true for fans of the franchise, offering a fully modular, interchangeable design that allows collectors to recreate the bustling, seedy environment of the Mos Eisley Cantina right in their homes. The project includes exclusive carded 3.75-inch action figures of beloved characters such as Wuher, Brea Tonnika, and Senni Tonnika, each coming with a variety of accessories that enhance the play and display value of the set.

The Mos Eisley Cantina set is meticulously designed to capture the atmosphere of the famous Star Wars locale. The offering features an external entrance façade, main cantina entry archway and stairs, a large bar, and three modular sitting booths, among other architectural elements. Each component of the cantina is crafted with movie-accurate detail, from the intricate piping behind the bar to the light fixtures and taxidermy heads adorning the walls. Fans can expect a plethora of accessories to further build out their scenes, including various types of tables, stools, chairs, and over 100 different cups. This attention to detail ensures that every aspect of the cantina is brought to life, providing an immersive experience that allows fans to relive the classic moments from the original trilogy.

Customization is a key feature of this HasLab project. For the first time, fans have the opportunity to personalize their Mos Eisley Cantina with a label sheet included in the set. This sheet contains elements such as Wanted posters and a sabacc tabletop label, enabling collectors to add their own unique flair to their displays. This level of customization, combined with the modular design of the cantina, ensures that each fan can create a setup that is uniquely theirs. Whether recreating scenes from the movie or inventing new scenarios, the possibilities are endless with this versatile set.

In addition to the base offering, Hasbro is also providing a deluxe pack option for those who want to expand their cantina even further. This deluxe version includes additional modular booth sections, more stools and chairs, extra tables, and unique wall decor, allowing for an even more elaborate and detailed setup. This expanded version is perfect for collectors who wish to recreate even more moments from A New Hope or to integrate additional figures from their existing collections. With these added elements, the cantina becomes not just a display piece, but a central hub for fans to relive and create their favorite Star Wars stories.

The campaign for the Mos Eisley Cantina HasLab project runs from June 7, 2024, to July 8, 2024, requiring 8,000 backers to proceed. If successful, the project will begin shipping around Fall 2025. Fans who back the project can look forward to exclusive figures that will not be available anywhere else. Wuher, the cantina's gruff bartender, is included in the set, featuring a classic Kenner-inspired cardback, a blaster accessory, a cup, and an alternate cup-holding hand. Additionally, the Tonnika sisters, Brea and Senni, make their debut in The Vintage Collection with exclusive cardbacks and accessories, including blasters, cups, and alternate hands. These figures add significant value to the set, making it a must-have for collectors.

The campaign also includes exciting unlockable tiers, providing additional exclusive figures as more backers join. The first tier, unlocked at 11,000 backers, features Greedo, the overzealous Rodian bounty hunter, with a new sculpt and accessories. The second tier, at 14,000 backers, introduces Nabrun Leids, a pilot and smuggler with an all-new sculpt and interchangeable mask hoses. The final tier, at 17,000 backers, adds Arleil Schous, a Defel bar patron making his debut in The Vintage Collection. These tiers add further incentive for fans to support the project, promising a richer and more varied cantina scene as more backers join.

This HasLab project is a significant addition to The Vintage Collection, offering fans an opportunity to own a piece of Star Wars history in a format that is both nostalgic and innovative. The set calls back to the original 1970s and 1980s Star Wars collectibles, featuring Kenner branding and package design for a display that will appeal to both new and long-time collectors. Each figure cardback features character imagery from Star Wars: A New Hope, making this offering a perfect tribute to the classic film. For fans who grew up with the original trilogy and for those discovering it for the first time, the Mos Eisley Cantina set provides a tangible connection to the Star Wars universe, allowing them to bring a piece of that galaxy far, far away into their own homes.
