Mofac Animation has announced an extraordinary ensemble of talent for its upcoming animated family film, The King of Kings. The film features the voices of Academy Award winner Sir Ben Kingsley, James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan, and Star Wars icon Mark Hamill as the villains in this captivating retelling of the life of Jesus Christ, inspired by a little-known short story by Charles Dickens.

Sir Ben Kingsley lends his voice to High Priest Caiaphas, the influential figure who presided over the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus. Mark Hamill takes on the role of King Herod, infamous for ordering the Massacre of the Innocents in an attempt to eliminate the infant Jesus. Pierce Brosnan portrays Pontius Pilate, the Roman governor who ultimately condemned Jesus to crucifixion. This impressive trio enhances the film's already stellar lineup, which includes Academy Award and Emmy Award winners Kenneth Branagh and Forest Whitaker, Golden Globe winners Oscar Isaac and Uma Thurman, and Golden Globe nominee Roman Griffin Davis.

The King of Kings follows Charles and Walter Dickens on a multi-dimensional adventure, blending the master storyteller's vivid imagination with the life and trials of Jesus Christ. As the pair, along with their family cat Willa, traverse this ancient tale, they interact with Jesus, his disciples, and his adversaries. The film aims to present the biblical journey in a relatable, understandable, and entertaining manner for families, particularly children.

Directed by Seong-ho Jay Jang, known for his work on Joint Security Area and The Taste of Money, the film is co-written by Jang and Rob Edwards, who previously worked on Disney’s The Princess and the Frog and Treasure Planet. The film's production is helmed by producer Anfernee Kim, with executive producers Jamie Thomason and Andrew Mann.

The voice cast includes Kenneth Branagh as Charles Dickens, Oscar Isaac as Jesus Christ, Uma Thurman as Mary Magdalene, Forest Whitaker as Simon Peter, Roman Griffin Davis as Walter Dickens, and Ava Sanger as Willa the Cat. Mofac Animation, based in Seoul, combines top-tier storytelling with cutting-edge animation techniques. The studio is currently seeking domestic and international distributors and aims to release the film around Easter 2025.

The true measure of a hero is always judged by the strength of his foes, and Sir Ben Kingsley, Pierce Brosnan, and Mark Hamill deliver impactful performances that elevate their respective villains to appropriately biblical heights, says producer Anfernee Kim. This cast is laden with winners of every major acting award, and they’ve all brought their A-games for a story most deserving of their impressive collective talents.

Ben Kingsley will reprise his role as Trevor Slattery in Marvel’s upcoming series Wonder Man and appear in several films including The Killer’s Game and Deep Water. Pierce Brosnan has roles in Max’s The Great Lillian Hall and the Focus Features spy thriller Black Bag. Mark Hamill is co-starring in Mike Flanagan’s series The Fall Of The House Of Usher and has wrapped production on the Stephen King-based project Life Of Chuck.
