In an exciting preview ahead of its debut, Prime Video has released first-look images and additional details for its upcoming original film Jackpot, premiering on August 15, 2024. This innovative action comedy, directed by Paul Feig and scripted by Rob Yescombe, merges high-stakes adventure with humor in a narrative that’s as thrilling as it is unique.

Jackpot introduces a dystopian twist on the American dream in a near-future California where a Grand Lottery allows anyone to kill the winner before sundown to claim a multi-billion dollar jackpot. The film follows the story of Katie Kim, portrayed by Awkwafina, who inadvertently becomes the lottery winner after moving to Los Angeles. As the target of numerous jackpot hunters, Katie's only hope for survival comes in the form of John Cena’s character, Noel Cassidy, an amateur lottery protection agent. Noel must not only protect Katie until sundown but also deal with the threat posed by his rival, Louis Lewis, played by Simu Liu, who is determined to claim the prize for himself.

The film features a stellar cast including John Cena, Awkwafina, and Simu Liu, along with Seann William Scott, enhancing the film's dynamic range with their compelling performances. Jackpot, originally announced as Grand Death Lotto, is produced by Joe Roth, Jeff Kirschenbaum, Paul Feig, and Laura Fischer, under the banners of Roth/Kirschenbaum Films and Feigco Entertainment. The film’s captivating visuals are crafted by renowned cinematographer John Schwartzman.

Development for Jackpot began in March 2023 at Amazon Studios, with the project quickly moving into production under the working title Jackpot. The cast expanded later in March with the addition of actors such as Ayden Mayeri, Dolly de Leon, and Donald Elise Watkins, bringing further depth and diversity to the ensemble. Principal photography was undertaken in Atlanta, with the crew working diligently to bring this action-packed narrative to life.
