"Bringing this cinema back to life is a dream come true for our team. We can't wait to share this new era with you, our patrons. Come and experience the passion of cinema with us." - Mathieu Nicolas, Director of UGC Le Majestic

In a vibrant celebration of the seventh art, the city of Meaux welcomed the reopening of the emblematic UGC Le Majestic cinema. After four years of silence, the spotlights came back on this Thursday, April 25, illuminating the Place Henri IV, transformed for the occasion into a cinematic forecourt hosting a prestigious inauguration evening. The event was honored by the presence of Madame Rachida Dati, Minister of Culture, and Monsieur Jean-François Copé, Mayor of Meaux, who both underlined the importance of this renewal for local culture and the vitality of the town center.

The UGC Le Majestic, located in the heart of the town center, has undergone a complete makeover, with seven completely renovated screens, including six accessible to people with reduced mobility, offering a total of 846 comfortable seats. The refurbishment was carried out while preserving the building's historic architecture, while integrating modern technologies such as 7.1 surround sound and laser projectors, guaranteeing a first-rate visual and sound experience.

The renovation was also an opportunity to significantly reduce the cinema's ecological footprint. Energy efficiency work included replacing traditional lighting with LEDs and eliminating the gas-fired boiler, anticipating a 40% to 50% reduction in energy consumption. These initiatives are part of a global approach aimed at reinforcing the UGC Group's commitment to sustainable, environmentally-friendly operations.

The revival of UGC Le Majestic is also a boon for local businesses. With screenings scheduled until 10 p.m., the cinema should generate an influx of visitors that will benefit downtown restaurants and stores. What's more, the establishment is committed to active collaboration with a number of local cultural initiatives, enriching the cultural offering for Meldois of all ages.

The Majestic's programming promises captivating diversity, combining introspective arthouse films and breathtaking blockbusters. Regular events, such as previews and meetings with film creators, will punctuate the cinematic calendar, creating a dynamic dialogue between filmmakers and Meldois audiences.

The inauguration was marked by a memorable evening, transforming Meaux into a veritable 'Meaux'llywood'. From 6.30pm, the streets resounded to the sounds of iconic film music, performed live. Visitors enjoyed film animations and workshops, a photographic exhibition of local merchants posing as famous movie characters, and many other surprises.

The festivities will continue throughout the month, with special offers such as reduced rates to enable everyone to rediscover their cinema, and special events such as the preview of the film La Petite Vadrouille on May 31, which our media were able to discover last night in excellent conditions. We'll have the honor of covering the various previews with casting and hopefully Q&A in this superb cinema that marked my childhood and adolescence.

Reserve your place now and let yourself be swept away by the magic of cinema at the UGC Le Majestic!
