Convention - Cinemacon 2024 : Lupita Nyong’o to be honored star of the year award

Lupita Nyong’o, the acclaimed Kenyan actress, producer, and New York Times Bestselling author, is set to receive the prestigious CinemaCon® Star of the Year Award at this year’s CinemaCon convention. Mitch Neuhauser, Managing Director of CinemaCon, made the announcement today, recognizing Nyong’o's exceptional talent and contributions to the film industry.

The official convention of NATO, CinemaCon, will take place from April 8-11, 2024, at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Nyong’o will be presented with the Star of the Year Award at the Big Screen Achievement Awards ceremony on the evening of Thursday, April 11, at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. The event is hosted by official presenting sponsor The Coca-Cola Company.

Lupita Nyong’o, known for her diverse and powerful performances, will be seen this summer in the highly anticipated film, A Quiet Place: Day One, set to be released nationwide by Paramount Pictures on June 28, 2024. The film, produced in association with Michael Bay's Platinum Dunes and Sunday Night Production, is executive produced by Allyson Seeger and Vicki Dee Rock, alongside producers Michael Bay, Andrew Form, Brad Fuller, and John Krasinski. A Quiet Place: Day One also features Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou, exploring the day the world went quiet under the direction of Michael Sarnoski.

Lupita Nyong’o, with a remarkable career spanning over a decade, made her feature film debut in the Academy Award® winning film 12 Years a Slave, earning critical acclaim and multiple awards. Her filmography includes blockbuster hits like Black Panther, Us, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and the upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and The 355.

In addition to her success on the big screen, Lupita Nyong’o has earned a Tony® nomination for her Broadway debut in Eclipsed and an Emmy® Award for the narration of her New York Times best-selling children’s book Sulwe. She also executive produces the family program Super Sema, now in its third season, and narrates Discovery’s docuseries Serengeti. Nyong’o's commitment to cultural storytelling from the African diaspora extends to hosting a podcast on non-fiction narratives.
