By Mulder, 22 january 2024

The Académie des Arts et Techniques du Cinéma has unveiled the long-awaited poster for the 49th César Awards Ceremony, and this year it celebrates the art of animation and short films. A choice that promises a cinematic evening full of magic and creativity, just like the photogram selected for the occasion, taken from the timeless short film La Belle Fille et le Sorcier, directed by the talented Michel Ocelot in 1992.

Michel Ocelot, winner of the César for Best Animated Short Film in 1983 for La Légende du Pauvre Bossu and of the César for Best Animated Film in 2019 for Dilili à Paris, is a veritable animation icon, recognized both in France and internationally. With each of his creations, the director of Kirikou's unforgettable adventures draws on his artistic talent and poetry to transport us into dreamlike worlds, while distilling messages of peace and tolerance.

The announcement of this poster only adds to the excitement surrounding the 49th César Awards Ceremony, scheduled for Friday February 23. This exceptional event will be broadcast live and exclusively on CANAL+. The evening will be presided over by the talented Valérie Lemercier, a leading figure in French cinema.

This new edition promises to be a celebration of cinematic excellence, spotlighting directors and artists who, like Michel Ocelot, have left their mark on the film industry through their creativity and exceptional contribution. The diversity of talent honored at the ceremony reflects the richness of the French cinematic landscape, with a particular focus this year on the enchanting world of animation and short films.

Film lovers the world over can look forward to a memorable evening of glamour, emotion and celebration of the seventh art in all its forms. The 49th César Awards Ceremony promises to be a not-to-be-missed event for all film lovers, where the magic of moving images will come to life and the most promising talents will be rewarded for their outstanding contribution to the French film industry. Stay tuned to CANAL+ for live coverage of an evening full of surprises and excitement.

Nevertheless, we would like to emphasize the restrictive choice made by the press office, which continues to favor exclusively print media accreditations for coverage of the upcoming ceremony. Despite our statistics and the regular highlighting of their press releases over the years, we regret to note, once again, their refusal to grant us access to cover this edition.
