Mean Girls made a sensational debut at the U.S. box office, taking first place on its opening weekend with receipts exceeding $28 million. This remarkable performance surpassed even such blockbusters as Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and the 2004 version of Mean Girls. A feat made all the more impressive by the fact that this new iteration, revisited by Tina Fey, was originally intended for streaming release.

According to EntTelligence data, the audience for the film, starring new American pop sensation Renée Rapp, is predominantly female, with 75% of tickets purchased by women. Young adults aged 18 to 35 account for 50% of viewers, underlining the franchise's multi-generational appeal.

Talent such as Christopher Briney, Ashley Park, Busy Phillips and Jon Hamm bring their charisma to this new adaptation, which promises to rekindle the spirit of the 2004 hit. The film, directed by Arturo Perez Jr. and Samantha Jayne, opens in France on January 10, 2024, followed by a U.S. release on January 12, 2024.

The long-awaited musical, based on the Broadway production of the same name, is a truly unique cinematic experience. The eclectic cast, including Angourie Rice, Auliʻi Cravalho, and the talented Renée Rapp as Regina George, is already generating excitement among fans.

The choice of Renée Rapp to play Regina George is no small one. The young American actress and singer, winner of the prestigious Jimmy Award in 2018, stood out for her acclaimed performance in the iconic role on Broadway. Beyond the stage, Rapp has also conquered the music world with the release of her Everything to Everyone EP in 2022, followed by the full-length album Snow Angel in 2023.

Synopsis :
Tina Fey gives a new twist to the 2000s cult comedy Means girl. New student Cady Heron finds herself rubbing shoulders with the elite of the social food chain, the popular girls known as "The Plastics", led by their queen Regina George and her underlings Gretchen and Karen. But when Cady gets a crush on Aaron, she doesn't immediately realize that she's made a big mistake, and her new bestie quickly turns into an enemy. Cady decides to overturn the established order with the help of her loser friends, Janis and Damian. Staying true to yourself while making your way through the ruthless high school jungle: that's quite a program, and you've got 2 hours.
