Prime-Video - Challengers : One of the most awaited 2024 movie

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Challengers, an exhilarating American romantic sports comedy drama directed by Luca Guadagnino and penned by Justin Kuritzkes. The film features an all-star cast including Zendaya, Josh O'Connor, and Mike Faist, promising a compelling narrative that blends romance, sportsmanship, and humor.

Challengers follows the journey of a Grand Slam tennis champion who, amidst a challenging losing streak, accepts the unexpected invitation to compete in a challenger event. The twist? His opponent is none other than the former lover of his wife and coach. As emotions run high, the film explores the complexities of love, competition, and self-discovery on and off the tennis court.

Principal photography for Challengers commenced on May 3, 2022, in Boston, capturing the city's vibrant energy as a backdrop. Zendaya, who not only stars in the film but also serves as a producer, underwent three months of rigorous training with pro-tennis player-turned-coach Brad Gilbert to embody her character authentically. The film's visual prowess is helmed by cinematographer Sayombhu Mukdeeprom, with costume design by Jonathan Anderson.

Director Luca Guadagnino, inspired by the screenplay by Justin Kuritzkes, embarked on this unique project with the support of acclaimed figures like Amy Pascal and Zendaya. In a 2022 interview with Collider, Guadagnino expressed his admiration for Kuritzkes' script and highlighted the influential role played by Zendaya in bringing the film to life.

Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, known for their work on Guadagnino's Bones and All, composed the film's score. Post-production wrapped up by April 2023, promising a seamless cinematic experience.

Originally slated for release on September 15, 2023, and set to open the 80th Venice International Film Festival, Challengers faced delays due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike. The film is now scheduled for release in the United States on April 26, 2024, through Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer via Amazon MGM Studios. While Warner Bros. Pictures handles international distribution, Challengers will exclusively stream on Amazon Prime Video in France, foregoing a theatrical release.

Synopsis :
Tashi Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach and force of nature, makes no apologies for her play on and off the court. Married to a fading champion, Tashi's strategy for her husband's redemption takes a surprising turn when he must face Patrick, her former best friend and Tashi's former boyfriend. With their past and present colliding and tensions running high, Tashi must ask herself what it will cost her to win.
