French actor and director Gilles Lellouche's next film will be L'Amour Ouf, a musical romantic comedy that promises to captivate French audiences in 2024. Based on the novel of the same name by Neville Thompson, the film takes viewers on an intense love story, transcended by outstanding performances and a captivating retro soundtrack.

Set in northeastern France, L'Amour Ouf tells the poignant story of two teenagers madly in love, despite their social differences. While their love seems doomed to failure due to their opposite origins, fate cruelly separates them when the young man, played by François Civil, finds himself in prison for 12 years. A love story that transcends time, hardship and social class.

The film's exceptional cast includes such talents as François Civil as Clotaire, Adèle Exarchopoulos as Jackie, and an impressive list of French actors including Mallory Wanecque, Alain Chabat, Benoît Poelvoorde, Vincent Lacoste, Élodie Bouchez, Anthony Bajon, Raphaël Quenard, Karim Leklou, Malik Frikah, Jean-Pascal Zadi, and many others.

With a budget of 32 million euros, L'Amour Ouf is one of Studiocanal's most ambitious projects. Alain Attal and Hugo Sélignac are producing under the Chi-Fou-Mi Productions and Trésor Films banners. The film will be distributed in France by Studiocanal.

Gilles Lellouche, director and co-writer with Audrey Diwan, shares his enthusiasm for the project, which he describes as an ultra-violent romantic comedy. The film, a collaboration with Audrey Diwan, features a captivating story and deep characters who evolve in a unique visual and sonic universe. The soundtrack, featuring tracks from the 1980s and 1990s by The Cure, New Order, Madonna, Nas, and Jay-Z, is a key element of the cinematic experience.

The 18-week, 88-day shoot took place in various regions of Hauts-de-France, creating an authentic backdrop for the plot. Memorable scenes were captured in Villeneuve-d'Ascq, Lille, Dunkirk, Douai, Valenciennes, Cambrai, Avesnes-sur-Helpe, Calais, Saint-Omer, Béthune, Lens, Arras, Boulogne-sur-Mer, Montreuil-sur-Mer, Roubaix, and even Comines in Belgium. The diversity of shooting locations reflects the scope and ambition of the project.
