As part of its ongoing environmental commitments, Disneyland Paris is announcing an innovative initiative for the 2023 Christmas season - the introduction of sustainable fir trees. This year, the Park has chosen to take an environmentally-friendly approach by integrating 80 "living" fir trees into the enchanted decor of the Christmas season.
In collaboration with the Pépinière du Val d'Yerres, located in Seine et Marne, the teams responsible for the Christmas season implemented a specific process enabling the trees to grow from one season to the next without the need for cutting. This approach is in line with the sustainable actions already undertaken by Disneyland Paris, demonstrating its commitment to preserving the environment.

The idea of incorporating "living" fir trees was born of fruitful discussions between the teams in charge of the show and horticulture. After several years of reflection, the collaboration with the Pépinière du Val d'Yerres was sealed to materialize this innovative project based on the anti-chignon pot, a process enabling fir trees to grow continuously without the need for cutting.
Jeanne Debost, producer of the Christmas season, shares her enthusiasm: "This initiative marks a significant step forward in our efforts to make our events even more sustainable. Live fir trees represent an environmentally-friendly alternative that fits perfectly with the Christmas magic we aim to create."

Pierre Baïssus, nurseryman at Pépinière du Val d'Yerres, adds: "We're delighted to contribute to this unique initiative. The anti-chignon pot process offers a nature-friendly solution, allowing fir trees to grow while preserving their natural beauty."
After their use in the park during the Christmas season, the 80 natural fir trees will be replanted to continue their growth, ready to return bigger and stronger the following year. This initiative reflects Disneyland Paris' long-term vision to promote sustainable practices and create a magical experience that respects our planet.
Disneyland Paris thus reaffirms its commitment to playing an active role in protecting the environment and inspiring visitors to adopt more sustainable behaviors during the festive season.
