2024 promises to be an extraordinary year for fans of the Gaulish adventures of Asterix and his friends, as the village celebrates its 65th anniversary and Parc Astérix blows out its 35 candles. Created in October 1959 by René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo, Asterix the Gaul won the hearts of audiences with its humor, wordplay and rebellious spirit, while Parc Asterix, inaugurated on April 30, 1989, has welcomed millions of visitors in search of thrills and magic.

Album Reissues and Art Books: A Moving Return to the Sources

In the absence of a new, unreleased album for 2024, Éditions Albert René is planning to delight fans with special reissues. From January 17, a special edition of Asterix The Gaul, the very first adventure, will be published, accompanied by a 16-page dossier on the album's creation. Fans will also be able to purchase a deluxe edition, with a 32-page behind-the-scenes dossier on this cult work. The highlight of the show will undoubtedly be the Art Book, scheduled for October 30, 2024, which will present the complete typescript by René Goscinny alongside the 44 original plates drawn and inked by Albert Uderzo, offering an exclusive journey to the heart of the creative process.

An Animated Series on Netflix by Alain Chabat: Le Combat des Chefs revisited
The magic of Asterix and Obelix on the big screen continues with the announcement of an animated series on Netflix directed by the talented Alain Chabat. Scheduled for release in the first half of 2025, the series will be based on the iconic album "Le Combat des Chefs", in which the druid Panoramix loses the recipe for the magic potion after an incident involving a menhir. Alain Chabat, a fervent admirer of the Asterix universe, promises to preserve the unique spirit of the comic strip while infusing his own personal touch, hailed by the heirs of the original creators. This new animated series will consist of five episodes.

A Recipe Book for Les Restos du Cœur: Asterix and Solidarity

In keeping with the tradition of the banquets that round off Asterix's adventures, a recipe book entitled "Les 40 Banquets d'Astérix" will be released on September 18, 2024. Priced at €15, it will feature images of banquets from all 40 Asterix albums, along with recipes created by renowned chefs. All profits, as well as Anne Goscinny and Sylvie Uderzo's royalties, will be donated to the Restos du Cœur, as part of the solidarity initiative launched by the famous Gaulish village.

Parc Astérix: A new attraction and a musical to celebrate 35 years

Parc Astérix, meanwhile, is not doing things by halves for its 35th anniversary. A new attraction, "La Tour de Numérobis," will offer visitors a unique vertical experience, suspending them up to 40 meters high in a spectacular adventure inspired by the Egyptian universe. In addition, the park will launch its own musical, "C'est du Délire," featuring the endearing characters of Groupidupianix and Sérotonine. This production, scheduled for spring 2024, promises a spellbinding 25-minute show featuring 26 set elements and 80 exceptional costumes.

Exhibitions and events worldwide: Asterix in the spotlight
The whole world will join in the festivities with exhibitions planned at the Atelier des Lumières in Paris from October 18, 2024 to January 5, 2025, offering an immersive dive into Asterix's Gaulish adventures. Brussels will also host an exhibition dedicated to Dogmatix and Co. from December 9, 2024 to March 9, 2025. What's more, the Gaulish hero will join his faithful companions Obelix and Dogmatix at the prestigious Musée Grévin on October 29, 2024, cementing his status as a historical figure.

Dogmatix in the spotlight: Albums, an Animated Series and even a Space Mission!
Asterix's faithful companion, Dogmatix, will also be in the spotlight with the release of the sixth volume of the adventures of Dogmatix and the Irreducibles, entitled "The Forest of Light," on June 12, 2024. An animated series, "Astérix et les Irréductibles," will unveil its second season in the second half of 2024, promising 52 11-minute episodes. Surprisingly, the little Gaulish dog will even have the opportunity to go into space in 2024, with the launch of a rover by the Cnes aimed at the moon Phobos.

Partnerships and Derivatives: Asterix on all fronts
The Asterix universe extends far beyond the comic-book pages, with partnerships continuing into 2024. Playmobil will be offering new figurines, Panini will be releasing an anniversary booklet of stickers, and the Monnaie de Paris will be minting a commemorative coin. Fans will also be able to find Gallic decorations in Klepierre stores, adding a touch of adventure to their everyday experience.

The year 2024 promises to be a memorable one for all Asterix and Parc Asterix fans. Between the re-releases, the animated series, the new attractions, the exhibitions, and even the space mission for Dogmatix, the double anniversary holds its share of surprises and celebrations.
