The Musée Grévin, one of the most iconic wax museums in Paris, is set to welcome a new star on October 16, 2023. The latest celebrity to join the ranks of the wax figures is none other than American actor Dwayne Johnson, affectionately known as The Rock.

This exciting development comes after Dwayne Johnson was elected winner of the inaugural Grévin Awards, a remarkable achievement fueled by the overwhelming support of Internet users. Dwayne Johnson's career, which spanned American soccer and professional wrestling before making his mark in Hollywood, is a true source of inspiration for all those who have seen him become an international superstar.

In 1996, after a few injury-plagued years in American soccer, Dwayne Johnson followed in his predecessors' footsteps into the world of wrestling. He became an eight-time World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) champion, five-time World Tag Team Champion and two-time World Heavyweight Champion. Johnson's larger-than-life persona and legendary smile quickly won over fans the world over.

His move to the big screen began in 2001 with his debut in The Return of the Mummy, followed by a starring role in The Scorpion King the following year. A charismatic actor with an imposing physique, he quickly found himself at the forefront of numerous successful productions.

But it was 2011 that marked a turning point in his career, when he joined the cast of Fast and Furious alongside Vin Diesel and the late Paul Walker. The role catapulted him to international prominence, cementing his status as a Hollywood heavyweight. The Fast and Furious saga continued to occupy an important place in Johnson's career, until the release of Fast and Furious X in 2023.

In addition to his action-packed roles, Johnson's versatility as an actor was revealed when he lent his voice to the character of Maui, a demigod, in Disney Studios' animated film Moana"(released as Vaiana, the Legend of the End of the World in some regions) in 2016. This fruitful collaboration is set to continue with a live-action adaptation of the beloved animated film in 2025.

Throughout his remarkable career, Dwayne Johnson has also assumed his social responsibility by actively supporting various charities.

Bringing Dwayne Johnson's image to the Musée Grévin was no mean feat. It took six months of painstaking work by the studio's dedicated team and talented sculptor Stéphane Barret to meticulously recreate the actor's features from countless photographs and documents. The result promises to be faithful to reality, as is the norm at Grévin.

From October 16, 2023, visitors to the Musée Grévin will have the extraordinary opportunity to immortalize their encounter with Dwayne Johnson's wax figure. The figure will be exhibited in the Salle des Colonnes, alongside wax portraits of Hollywood celebrities such as Leonardo DiCaprio, George Clooney and Meryl Streep. Dwayne's character will be dressed in a short-sleeved polo shirt and navy-blue pants, reflecting his signature style.

In addition to this exciting addition, Musée Grévin is actively working to improve the visitor experience. Since the start of 2023, the museum has welcomed wax figures from celebrities such as Denis Brogniart, Antoine Griezmann, Audrey Fleurot, Antoine Dupont, Frédéric Michalak and -M- (Matthieu Chedid). The museum continues to evolve, offering more dynamism, interactivity and immersive experiences to its 900,000 annual visitors.

Musée Grévin has also launched a season of classical concerts produced by Philippe Maillard in the magnificent Théâtre Grévin, candlelit concerts with Fever, and a unique monthly event called "La Nuit au Musée", which offers a magical tour of the museum after closing hours.

Looking ahead, Musée Grévin is preparing for the second edition of the Prix Grévin, scheduled for 2024. With ten nominees in the running, the celebrity who receives the most votes will have his or her wax double consecrated by the museum. Fans can stay tuned and join in the excitement on Instagram and Facebook.
