Lego - Lego Le Concorde - get ready for take-off!

By Mulder, 10 august 2023

The Lego Group today unveils a new model that will reach new heights: Lego Icons - Le Concorde. Arguably one of the most iconic and famous aircraft in history, the Concorde could fly twice as fast as the speed of sound.

A masterpiece of engineering, the Concorde is now available in Lego brick form. Built in the 1960s as part of a collaboration between the UK and France, Concorde was the first supersonic commercial aircraft used for passenger transport. This 2,083-brick scale model is a faithful reproduction of the aircraft, which can be displayed at home with the help of the display stand. The display stand allows you to place the aircraft in flight mode, or in its tilted mode for take-off and landing.  The set is packed with detail, with a removable roof to explore the lavish cabin interior, functional landing gear, and tilting nose and visors.

The Concorde was an iconic supersonic airliner developed in the 1960s by the French aerospace company Aérospatiale and the British Aircraft Corporation. It was designed to fly at speeds in excess of Mach 2 (more than twice the speed of sound) and offer rapid transatlantic travel. Concorde made its maiden flight in 1969 and entered commercial service in 1976. It was capable of carrying around 100 passengers in a luxurious interior, and offered regular supersonic flights between Europe (mainly London and Paris) and the United States (mainly New York). Travel aboard Concorde was highly prized for its speed and exclusivity, but tickets were also very expensive. However, due to economic problems, environmental concerns and the tragic accident in 2000 involving an Air France Concorde, commercial Concorde operations were discontinued in 2003. The aircraft has since become a symbol of supersonic aviation, but is no longer in active service.

The Lego Concorde will be available in Lego stores and on lego.com/concorde for €199.99, from September 4, 2023 for members of the Lego VIP program and from September 7, 2023 for the general public.
