The Lord of the Rings™: Gollum™ takes players on an exceptional journey, sharing a unique perspective in Gollum. Whether he's slithering through tall grass or swimming in rivers, Gollum must adapt and move in the shadows if he is to escape his enemies on his adventure. From the mountains of Mordor, to the mines of La Moria, to the forest of Mirkwood, players will explore a variety of environments and experience an exciting narrative adventure. Starting September 1, explore this original story created by Daedalic Entertainment and officially licensed by Middle-earth Enterprises.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, based on J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary Lord of the Rings trilogy, follows Gollum's adventures behind the scenes in the early chapters of The Fellowship of the Ring. After losing his precious ring to Bilbo Baggins, Gollum decides to leave the Misty Mountains and embark on a perilous journey from the dungeons of Barad-dur to the elven realm of the Great Fear Forest. To survive the dangers of his journey into Middle-earth, Gollum must sneak, climb and use all his cunning. He must also face his alter-ego, Sméagol. It's up to the players to decide if they want Gollum to have the upper hand in important decisions, or if they prefer to let Sméagol have the upper hand. To survive the dangers he encounters on his adventures, Gollum must use all his cunning to distract and sneak past his enemies while climbing and scaling platforms in vertically designed environments.
Gollum is a fictional character from J.R.R. Tolkien's fantasy novel The Hobbit and its sequel, The Lord of the Rings. His real name is Sméagol, but he is commonly called Gollum because of the gurgling sound he makes. Gollum was a Hobbit Stoor who was corrupted by the One Ring, a powerful and malevolent artifact. The One Ring prolonged Gollum's life and drove him to obsession and madness. He developed a split personality, his alter ego being the malicious and cunning Gollum. Gollum's only desire was to once again possess the One Ring, which had been lost and then found by Bilbo Baggins, the protagonist of The Hobbit. Gollum is a central character in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. He is determined to get the ring back from Frodo Baggins, Bilbo's nephew and the actual ring bearer.
Gollum alternates between helping Frodo and his companion Samwise Gamgee in their quest to destroy the ring and plotting to take it for himself. Finally, Gollum plays a key role in the story's denouement, when he succumbs to his obsession and bites Frodo's finger to retrieve the ring. In his moment of triumph, he loses his balance and falls into the fiery abyss of Mount Doom, where the ring is finally destroyed. Gollum is known for his peculiar appearance, characterized by his emaciated, lanky build, bulging eyes and hissing sounds. He speaks in a unique manner, often referring to himself in the third person and engaging in internal conversations with his alter ego, Gollum. Overall, Gollum represents the corrupting power of the One Ring and the destructive influence it has on individuals.
The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, developed by Daedalic Entertainment in partnership with Middle-earth Enterprises and co-published by Daedalic Entertainment and NACON. The game will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. A physical edition will also be available on consoles
