Michael Moshe Dahan's Yes Repeat No will have its European premiere in Paris on April 15 at the European Independent Film Festival (ÉCU).
Yes Repeat No is a complex and layered conceptual feature film by Michael Moshe Dahan. In the film, three actors audition to play the role of Palestinian-Jewish actor and activist Juliano Mer-Khamis, a former IDF paratrooper who provocatively identified himself as "100% Palestinian and 100% Jewish." During a tense rehearsal to determine which of them is best suited to play Juliano Mer-Khamis with authenticity, the three Julianos find their sense of identity fractured and disrupted. Murdered on the steps of the theater he founded in Jenin, Juliano Mer-Khamis saw himself as the living embodiment of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. While switching codes between the conflicting identities he embodied, he was considered an Arab in Israel and a Jew in Jenin. Yes Repeat No asks whether it is remembering our past - or forgetting it - that allows us to break the cycles of identity and conflict.
Yes Repeat No has its European premiere at the European Independent Film Festival. The film will be followed by a Q&A with Michael Moshe Dahan and Karim Saleh.
