Convention - Paris Fan Festival 2023: The superheroes gatherĀ

By Mulder, 24 march 2023

"Superheroes represent one of the most recognizable figureheads of pop culture and have done so since their creation, so they occupy an important part of our programming through animations, conferences and exhibitions... If the appearance of the MCU, DCEU and other cinematic sagas have allowed them to reach new heights, we have chosen to highlight the artists behind these immense successes by inviting the authors and cartoonists who have made comic book fans dream for so many years." - Jonathan Dumont, director of the Paris Fan Festival.

The Paris Fan Festival is an event organized by New Vega, the media communication group specialized in Entertainment. After a successful first edition in 2022, the event is back for a second edition that will take place at the Porte de Versailles on April 15 and 16, 2023. Bringing together all the universes of Pop Culture in one place, fans will be able to discover an offer of animations and activities around their favorite universes: cinema and series, manga and comics, gaming and board games, lifestyle and fooding.

Comic books will be in the spotlight with the presence of the greatest authors and cartoonists, but also Teri Hatcher, Lois from Lois and Clark, or a life-size Batmobile as well as many animations.

Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's the second edition of the Paris Fan Festival and its myriad of superheroes! The great gathering of all the universes of Pop-Culture will be held on April 15 and 16 at the Parc des Expositions of the Porte de Versailles. Fans of comic books will find their favorite sagas with a program worthy of the greatest cross-overs.

Superhero movies and series have become a must-see genre over the last fifteen years, but they owe this success in large part to the authors and artists who first created and imagined the characters and stories that occupy our screens. The Paris Fan Festival has assembled a team of the greatest talents in the comic book universe to allow fans to meet the people behind the adventures of Captain America, Wonder Woman, The Flash, The Boys, etc.

Prolific writer Garth Ennis will be present at Fan Fest to talk with visitors about his successes such as The Boys, now a series on Amazon Prime Video, and Preacher. The master of comics will not be alone since many other talents will be present like :
- Xermanico, illustrator for DC Comics, who will launch the new FlashPoint series on March 29 to accompany the release of the new movie The Flash.
- Olivier Coipel, the French superstar, illustrator for Marvel Comics, who notably drew Spider-Verse, which inspired the successful Sony Pictures Entertainment movie but also relaunched the Thor series, whose new designs can be found in the Marvel Studios movies.
- Declan Shalvey, writer for Marvel Comics, who worked on the character of Moon Knight, for whom he created the personality of Mr.Knight, seen in the Disney + series, with Warren Ellis.
- Mike Perkins, illustrator for Marvel Comics and DC Comics, having participated in the Captain America series by Ed Brubaker, which served as inspiration for the film Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
- Aleksi Briclot, concept artist for Marvel Studios (Avengers: Infinity War, Thor: Ragnarok...), illustrator for Magic and co-founder of the video game studio Don't Nod.

Many other great names of the comic book universe will be at the Paris Fan Festival in the artist alley dedicated to creators.

In addition to meeting their heroes and creators, fans will also be able to fight crime with numerous activities for the whole family. They will be able to venture into the superhero village to walk through immersive settings and cross paths with the mythical Batmobile in its version from the Tim Burton films.

Visitors will also be able to complete their super-collection with the numerous publishers and bookstores that will be on site. An Urban Comics stand will be waiting for the visitors while the derivative products will not be left behind thanks to the ranges proposed by Hasbro, Mattel or Fariboles. Finally, a fascinating exhibition of dioramas created by enthusiasts will complete the program.

The press is of course invited, with the presence of reporter Lois Lane, special correspondent of the Daily Planet. Before playing one of the Desperate Housewives, Teri Hatcher remains for many the unforgettable half of Superman in the series "Lois and Clark". The actress will be at the Paris Fan Festival during the 2 days of the event.

Other iconic sagas of Pop-Culture, such as Stargate SG-1 or Harry Potter, will also be present at the Paris Fan Festival. In order not to miss any announcement, R2D2 has compiled the best links from the galaxy.
