The original series Up here, which will be broadcast exclusively on Disney+ starting Friday, March 24, is revealed in a trailer. Set in New York City at the very end of 1999, the series tells the extraordinary story of an ordinary couple, Lindsay and Miguel, who fall in love with each other but soon discover that their personal memories, obsessions, fears and fantasies are the main obstacle to their shared happiness.
Mae Whitman (Good Girls), Carlos Valdes (Gaslit), Katie Finneran (The Gilded Age), John Hodgman (Dicktown), Andréa Burns (West Side Story), Sophia Hammons (Behind Our Smoke Screen) and Emilia Suárez (A Good Person) are featured in this eight-part series directed by Thomas Kail (Hamilton) with a script by Steven Levenson (Tick, Tick... Boom! Dear Evan Hansen) and Danielle Sanchez-Witzel (The Carmichael Show).
The original songs are by Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (The Snow Queen, WandaVision). Thomas Kail, Steven Levenson, Danielle Sanchez-Witzel, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are executive producers, along with Jennifer Todd, of this co-production between 20th Television and Old 320 Sycamore Productions, Thomas Kail's company.
Synopsis:
New York City in the final days of 1999. Two individuals fall in love and soon discover that the biggest obstacle to their happiness is the memories, obsessions, fears and fantasies that haunt their minds.
