Disney+ - Boston Strangler : Discover the trailer of the thriller based on a true story

Written and directed by Matt Ruskin (Crown Heights), The Boston Strangler is a brand new thriller produced by 20th Century Studios. It pays tribute to the pioneering journalists who helped track down the notorious serial killer Albert DeSalvo, the alleged perpetrator of 13 sordid crimes in the Boston area between 1962 and 1964. The film will be available on Disney+ in various countries, in the Star World, starting March 17, 2023 and in the United States on Hulu.

Boston strangler includes in its cast Keira Knightley (Imitation game), Carrie Coon (Fargo series), Alessandro Nivola (Amsterdam), David Dastmalchian (Dune), Morgan Spector (Homeland series), Bill Camp (Joker) and Chris Cooper (Adaptation). The film is produced by Ridley Scott (The Martian), Kevin J. Walsh (House of gucci), Michael Pruss (American woman), Josey McNamara (Promising young woman) and Tom Ackerley (I, Tonya). Michael Fottrell (Fast and Furious 8) and Sam Roston serve as executive producers.

Boston Strangler is a co-production between Scott Free Productions, LuckyChap Entertainment and 20th Century Studios. It was written and directed by Matt Ruskin, and produced by Ridley Scott, Kevin J. Walsh, Michael Pruss, Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara. On October 4, 2021, Keira Knightley joined the cast. In November 2021, Carrie Coon, Alessandro Nivola, Chris Cooper and David Dastmalchian were added to the cast. Robert John Burke and Morgan Spector were confirmed in the lead role in early 2022. Ben Kutchins served as the film's director of photography.

Filming began on December 6, 2021. A house in Belmont, Massachusetts was used as the home of journalist Loretta McLaughlin. On the same day, Winn Brook Elementary School was transformed into a Cambridge police station for the filming of the second unit. The school was paid $5,000 to appear in the film. Several private driveways on Statler and Waterhouse Roads were rented to park 1960s vehicles. The next two days, filming took place in the South End; scenes were shot on Dwight Street between Tremont Street and Shawmut Avenue. On December 9, the Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology was temporarily transformed into police headquarters for the film. Between January 26 and 27, 2022, the former Josephine M. Foster Elementary School in Braintree served as the set. Filming also took place in Jamaica Plain, Lowell, Lynn, Malden, Roxbury and Wellesley, Massachusetts. Several health procedures had to be followed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The entire crew was vaccinated and tested for the virus three times a week until the end of production. Filming was completed in March 2022. During post-production, Paul Leonard-Morgan composed the musical score.

Synopsis:
Loretta McLaughlin (Keira Knightley), a reporter for the Record-American newspaper, seeks to establish the possible connection between the atrocious murders of women in their homes for nearly a year in the Boston area. As the mysterious killer claims more and more victims - to the point of causing a veritable psychosis throughout Boston - Loretta tries to continue her investigation alongside her colleague and confidante Jean Cole (Carrie Coon). In their absolute quest for the truth, the duo comes up against the sexism of the time and other infinitely more formidable dangers.
