The Lego Group, in partnership with Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products, today unveiled the highly anticipated Lego Icons - Lord of the Rings: Rivendell, inspired by the multi-award winning film adaptations. The highly detailed 6,167-brick reproduction features the iconic elven fortress of Middle-earth and is accompanied by 15 minifigures.
Home to the House of Elrond, Rivendell is a key location in Middle-earth and the events of the Lord of the Rings trilogy: it is where the Fellowship was formed and the quest to destroy the One Ring began.
The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell LEGO set includes many fan-favourite elements of the universe and winks. It is divided into three sections.
The first section includes:
- Elrond's Council - with chairs in a semicircle for the council, the stand where the ring is first shown and where the Fellowship discusses how to destroy it.
- Frodo's room - with a desk and chest where the young hobbit recovers after being rescued by Arwen from the Nazgûl, before being reunited with Bilbo.
- Elrond's study - with famous paintings from the history of Middle-earth.
Section two includes An Elven Tower with five statues of famous unnamed warrior elves
Section three, consists of a kiosk, a river and a bridge to recreate the scene where the Fellowship leaves Rivendell.
The set is populated by 15 minifigures, including the nine members of the Fellowship: Gandalf the Grey, the four hobbits (Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamegie, Meriadoc "Merry" Brandebuck and Peregrin "Pippin" Took), Legolas, Gimli, Boromir and Aragorn. They are joined by the figures of Elrond, Arwen, Bilbo Baggins, as well as other elves and a dwarf (Gloin).
Fans of Lego construction and The Lord of the Rings will also find a number of Lego elements never before seen in the Middle-earth universe, including: Bilbo's sword, Sting; Narsil's broken shards, Aragorn's sword; Boromir's sword; as well as numerous dwarven axes and elven blades, to ensure that the Fellowship is well equipped for their upcoming quest.
Lego designer Mike Psaiki said: "We know that many of our fans have been waiting for a build like this for a long time - but a Lego Lord of the Rings set is never late, it arrives precisely when it's needed! It was important for us to create something really special with this reproduction of Rivendell. We wanted to add as much detail as possible and provide an exciting experience throughout the build, to delight all the fans who will be recreating scenes from the story, or proudly displaying Elrond's house in their homes. We are very pleased with the end result and how we have brought Rivendell to life in brick form.
