The trailer for season 3 of Star Wars: The Mandalorian, one of the most popular and acclaimed series produced by Lucasfilm, has been unveiled. In addition to the 16 already existing, 8 new episodes directed by Rick Famuyiwa, Rachel Morrison, Lee Isaac Chung, Carl Weathers, Peter Ramsey or Bryce Dallas Howard will be offered on a weekly basis from March 1st, exclusively for Disney+.

The third season of the U.S. television series The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal as the title character, a bounty hunter who travels to Mandalore to redeem his past transgressions with his companion Grogu. The series is part of the Star Wars franchise and takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi (1983). The season is produced by Lucasfilm, Fairview Entertainment and Golem Creations, with Jon Favreau as showrunner. Development on a third season of The Mandalorian began in late April 2020 and was officially confirmed in December. Filming began in October 2021 and wrapped in late March 2022. The season is scheduled to premiere March 1, 2023 on the Disney+ streaming service. A fourth season is in development.

The Mandalorian odyssey in the Star Wars universe continues. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has found Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic strives to take the galaxy far away from its dark history. As he and the Child continue their journey, the Mandalorian will encounter old allies and make new enemies in the tumultuous times following the collapse of the Galactic Empire...
In late April 2020, The Mandalorian creator and showrunner Jon Favreau had been writing a third season for "a while" and development of the season began. In September of that year, co-star Giancarlo Esposito said the second season would "start to lay the groundwork for the depth and breadth that will come in season three and season four, where you're really going to start getting answers." After the second season finale announced The Book of Boba Fett for December 2021, commentators speculated that the third season would shift the focus from Din Djarin, the Mandalorian, to Boba Fett.

Favreau quickly clarified that The Book of Boba Fett was a separate spinoff series that was already in production in December 2020, with the third season of The Mandalorian focusing on Djarin again. He added that the third season was in pre-production, and that filming would begin in 2021. Bryce Dallas Howard, Rick Famuyiwa and co-star Carl Weathers all directed episodes after doing so for previous seasons, with Famuyiwa also promoted to executive producer. Lee Isaac Chung, Peter Ramsey and Rachel Morrison all directed episodes this season. Jon Favreau wrote all eight episodes of the season, working with Noah Kloor on the third and Dave Filoni on the fourth and seventh episodes. The season picks up after the events of The Book of Boba Fett (2021), with the Mandalorian and Grogu traveling to Mandalore so that Din Djarin can make amends for taking off his helmet.
Pedro Pascal plays the Mandalorian in the series. In November 2020, Esposito said that he expects to be more present in the third season than in the previous ones. Also featured are Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, Katee Sackhoff as Bo-Katan Kryze, Emily Swallow as the Armorer and Omid Abtahi as Dr. Pershing. Paul Sun-Hyung Lee also reprises his role as Carson Teva. In March 2022, it was revealed that Christopher Lloyd would be a guest star for the season, and in May 2022, it was revealed that Tim Meadows would appear in the season, as well as the character Babu Frik from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker (2019) with other members of his species.

Filming for the season began on October 13, 2021, with David Klein as director of photography. It was scheduled to begin once the filming of The Book of Boba Fett was completed in June 2021, but it was unable to begin because Obi-Wan Kenobi was using the Los Angeles studios. Esposito noted that production did not have to wait for Pascal to finish filming the HBO series The Last of Us since The Mandalorian is primarily seen with his helmet on.Regarding filming the season during the COVID-19 pandemic, Favreau felt that The Mandalorian was in an advantageous situation since many of the characters are wearing masks and the show employs "a lot of digital work that augments things," allowing production to be flexible in adhering to filming protocols. Filming ended on March 29, 2022. Reshoots took place in early July 2022.
Starring Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito, "Star Wars: The Mandalorian" is produced by Jon Favreau - also showrunner and head writer - Dave Filoni, Rick Famuyiwa, Kathleen Kennedy and Colin Wilson. Karen Gilchrist and Carrie Beck are executive producers.
